BRIDGE CLUB.
Friday afternoon Mrs. Eugene M.
Easterling v was hostess to the mem
bers of the Junior-Smait Set Bridge
Club. The high score prize for club
members was won by Mrs. Eddie San
ders and the high score prize for
guests was won by Mrs. R. A. Easter
ling, of Denmaik. A contest was also
enjoyed, as a result of which Mrs.
Lessie Easterling was awarded the
club consolation prize and Mrs. J. W.
Ruff the guest consolation prize. Mrs.
Marvin^ Hale was also remembered
with a gift. The hostess served a
sweet course. The Valentine motif
was effectively carried cut in every
detail. Besides the club members the
guests included Mrs. R. A. Easterling,
of Denmark, Mrs. J. W. Ruff, Mis. B.

umbia on professional business Tues
day, being accompanied by Represen
tative Solomon Blalt, who spent the
week-end at heme.
The Barnwell Chapter, Daughters
cf the American Revolution, will meet
with Mrs. N. G. W. Walker on Friday
afternoon of this week at four o’clock.
Every member is urged to be present.

delightful evening was spent.

Receivership Is Sought.
Chaiging “insolvency” because of
“mismanagement” and “watered
stock,” Loui s Mansbach, of New York,
on Monday asked appointment of a
receiver for the Lexington Water
Company, operator of the huge Saluda
River power project at Lake Murray,
near Columbia. Federal Judge J.
Lyles Glenn, acting on the petition,
ordered the company to show’ cause
at Columbia February 15th why a
receiver should not be appointed to
take possession of all property and
operate the business under court direc
tion.
Included in that propel ty is the
mammoth earthen dam, said to be
the largest of it s type in America,
which was thrown across the Saluda
River, 12 miles fiom Columbia, at a
total cost of more than $20,000,000.
It was completed in 1930.
