General Charles G. (“Hell and

dent of the Reconstruction Finance
Corporation, says that the depression
is over. Oh, yeah?
Straw Balko.
Recently, The Literary Digest con
ducted a straw vote on the prohibition
question. The result indicated that,
with the exception cf tw’o States, sen
timent for repeal of the 18th Amend
ment is very strong throughout the
country. Kansas and North Carolina
returned slight majorities in favor of
a continuance of prohibition.
Professional dry? and others yho
favor prohibition declared that The
Dige«t poll proved nothing, giving
various reasons for the "wet" senti
ment expressed therein.
Last week, a primary election wa«
held in North Carolina, one of tty*
two “dry” States in The Digest poll.
Robert R. Reynold* ran on a wet
platform for the Democratic nomina
tion for United States Senator against
Che incumbent, Cameron Morrison, an
ardent pn hibitioniat. The latest
figures available Tue-day showed
Reyn Ids leading Morrison by (lightly
more than 12,000 votes, their totals
heing 143,732 and 131,878, respec
tively. Three fiber candidate* polled
ah ut 65,000 vote* a'l told.

to be re-placed—on account cf dry
gpd wet rot, decay, rust and worm
damage. (Garage doors cost B. T.
D.-s-meaning, before the depression,
$20.00. But they can be had now for
only $20.00.)
We did all cf these things to
please our city council. They put on
a “Paint Up” week, and we did our
bit—even if it did bust us. We be
lieve everybody ought to vote the
democratic ticket next November so
that good times and honesty in $[cvern-
ment affairs will return—and vt Would
be a good idea for everybody to take
a bath occasionally, too—if possible.
