served a salad course with coffee. The

BRIDGE CLUB.
The member's of the Wednesday
Afternoon Bridge club were entertain
ed last week by Mrs. Charlie Brown,
Sr. The high score prize was won by
Mrs. R. S. Dicks and tha, consolation
was cut by Mrs. J. Julien Bush, each
of th e winners being presented yith
a towel. Mrs. Angus Patterson- cut
high card for the guest prize and
was presented with handkerchiefs.
The hostess served delightful refresh
ments, consisting of quail on toast,
potato s^lad, sweet pickles, crackbrs
and coffee. Guests other than club
members who enjoyed the occasion
were Mrs. Angus Patterson, Mrs. W.
A. Fuller and Mrs. W. L. Molair.
The A section of grade eight is
planning to have a hike on Jan. 23rd

Literary Society Meet?.
Healing Springs, Jan. 18.—The
Wade Hampton Literary Society of
the Healing Springs school met in
regular session Friday afternoon,
January 15th, in the school auditor
ium for the purpose of electing offi
cers for the remainder of the school
year. Prcf. L. E. Whittl e acted as
chairman and after he had made a
few apmopriate remarks pertaining
to the objects and needs of the socie
ty, the following officers were chosen:

Collins, vice president; Mildred
Grubbs, secretary; Miss Eva Blume,
literary critic; L. E. Whittle, orderly
critic; Ronald Lott, treasurer;
