Mrs. Josh Baxley, of West Palm
Beach, Fla., each of the winners be
ing presented with a bath towel. Mrs.
Betty Mace, of Los Angeles, Cai., was
also an out-of-town guest. Delight
ful refresments were served after
cards were laid aside.

BRIDGE CLUB.
Mrs. Mordecai Mazursky was hast-
ess to the Junior-Smart Set Bridge
Club last Thursday afternoon. ; The
high score prize for club members, a
hand bag. was won by Mrs. D. H.
Eargle; the high score prize for
guests, a handkerchief, was won by
Mrs. Josh Baxley, and the consolation,
a bridge set, was -cut by Mrs. R. L.
Bronson. The hostess served sand
wiches and Russian tea. Besides the
club members the guests included
Mrs. Josh Baxley and Mrs. Marvin
Hale.

The Barnwell Chapter, Daughters
cf the American Revolution, met Fri
day afternoon, January 8th, with
Mrs. G. M. Greene.
The rrteeting was called to order by
the regent, Mrs. L. M. Cave. Follow
ing opening exercises, the treasurer,
Mrs. G. M. Gieene, made the yearly
report of the chapter. A box of
towels was also reported by the treas
urer as having been sent by the chap
ter to Tammassee Industrial School
for girls. • .
Mrs. L. M. Cave was -elected as
delegate to Continental Congress at
Washington; alternates, Miss Anqa
Walker, Mrs. R. C. Holman, Mrs. W.
H. Manning, Mrs. T. A. Holland, Mrs.
L. A. Cave, Mrs. B. L. Easterling and
Mrs. G. M. Greene,
It was decided to invite the State
Regent, Mrs. J. C. Coulter,, to the
February meeting to be held at the
home of the chapter tegeitf, Mrs. L.
M. Cave, at which tithe the Daughters
will dress in Colonial costumes and a
very interesting program is being ar
ranged for this occasion. -
After all business had been dispos
ed of, a unique contest was entered
into with much zest. Mrs. W. M.
Jones was awarded first prize, Mrs.
R..C. Holman and Mrs. W- H. Man
ning were likewise presented with
prizes.
Home-made peach ice cream and
small iced cakes were served.
Special Services at Friendship.
Announcement is made that special
services will be conducted at Friend
ship Church, a few miles east of
Barnwell, Sunday, January 24th, at
11:30 o’clock. M. V. Home, a rail
road man, of Columbia, will preach
and special music will be furnished by
the ‘‘Horne” Quartet. A cordial in
vitation is extended to .the - public to
attend.
