V -\ Allendale, Oct. 20.—Mrs. Jane Jen-
fcin 8 Hazel, 54, died at her home near
'Allendale Sunday night. Her body
was discovered by her son, Edwin
Hazel, at noon Monday.
Being in the habit of sleeping late^
In the morning and having instructed
members of the household not to dis
turb her, her non-appearance Monday
morning caused no uneasines g in the
family. Towards noon a servant call
ed Mrs. Hazel but received no re
sponse. Upon his arrival at dinner
time, Edwin Hazel, who was serving
on the grand jury at Allendale, was
requested to call his mother to dinner.
Receiving no answer to repeated
knocks and finding the door and
windows locked, he forced an en
trance and found his mothe r dead in
her bed.
A note was found, signed by Mr«.
fiaael, addressed to her son and
daughter-in-law, wherein she express
ed hc r intention of taking her life,
giving as the reason ill health and
financial difficulties.
An inque.-t was held. The coroner’s
jury found that Mrs. Hazel had come
to her death by her own hand, exact
means unknown.
Mrs. Hazel, widow of Frank W.
Hazel, is survived by one son, Edwin
Hazel, of Allendale; one little grand-
(hraghter, Mary Jane Hazel; one
