to Barnwell last Week on account of
the serious illness of his brother, Capt.
G. M. Main.

mia, is spending a few days this
week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
C. F. Molair.
Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Killingsworth, of
Dunbarton, Mrs. B. L. Easterling and
Mrs H. J. Phillips spent Monday in
Columbia with Mrs. Marion Patterson,
who is quite ill.
The friends of Mrs. Charlie Brown,
on the second Friday in December, at
the home of Mrs. N. G. W. Walker, at
which time a most interesting pro
gram will be given by members of the
chapter.

INTERESTING MEETING.
The Johnson Hagood Chapter, U. 6.
C., held a most interesting meeting at
the home of Mrs. B. L. Easterling on
Friday afternoon, the 22nd inst., as
sisting hostesses being Mrs. H. J.
Phillips and Mrs. J. H. Black. The
home was attractively decorated withi
baskets and vases of chrysanthemums.
The chapter president, Mrs. T. D.
Creighton, presided and an interesting
program arranged by Mrs. B. L.
Easterling was well rendered, ag fol
lows: Duet “Juanita,” Mrs. Easter
ling and Mrs. G. M. Greene; Poem,
Mrs. J. H. Black; Miss Anna Walker,
Chapter Historian, made an interest
ing talk; “The Quilting Party,” a read
ing, by Mrs. Greene.
During the business session several
important matters were taken up and
disposed of. Mrs. H. J. Phillips was
elected assistant to the Chapter His
torian. All committees for the .com
ing year were appoined by the presi
dent. Delegates to the Division con
vention which meets in Orangeburg
December 4- were elected, ag follows:

The Rev. S. T. Harvin announces
that there will be services at the Barn
well Presbyterian Church Sunday
morning at 11:80 o’clock. Sunday
school will be held at the usual hoar
of 10:80 a. m.
He will also conduct services Sun
day night at 7:3*) o’clock at the Black-
ville Presbyterian Church, where Sun
day school will be held that morning

mour were being held in the Mont
gomery County jail here tonight on
murder charges following her admis
sion, officers said, that they drowned
their eight months old daughter.

Ralph Brown entertained with a
benefit biidge Friday aftemcon at the
home of the former. The high score
prize, a string of beads, was won by
Mrs. Louise Porter Bauer and the
consolation, a bottle of ketchup, was
awarded to Miss Blanche Ellis. Block

well, formerly operated by her hus
band, the late R. D. Reid. Mr. Bailey

NOVEMBER MEETING.
The Barnwell Chapter, Daughters of
American Revolution, held its Novem
ber meeting at the home of Mrs. L. M.
Cave on Friday afternoon.
The business session was conducted
by Mrs. L. M. Cave, regent. The
minutes of the last meeting were
read and approved, after which the
treasurer, Mrs. G. M. Greene, made a
report showing a neat sum in the
treasury. Due to the fact that Mrs.
M. L. Banks, secretary, was leaving
for her new home at Kingstree, Mrs.
B. L. Easterling was elected as secre
tary for the coming year. The regent
gave a most interesting talk on Tam-
sssee and its n«6ds, which is to be
the main objective for this year’s
work.
After all business was laid aside,
delightful refreshments consisting of
sandwiches and hot'chocolate were
served by the hostess.
