Thursday evening Miss Jewel Wood
ward's house guests, Misses Walker,
Miss Martha Caroline Latkrop,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Lath-
rop, was married to Mr. Lee Duncan
Ellis, of Martins, Sunday afternoon, at
the home of the bride’s parents, 613
Rutledge avenue.
Only immediate relatives were pres
ent, owing to the recent illness of the
bride's mother. The ceremony was
performed by the Rev. G. A. Nickles,
pastor of the Westminster Presbyter
ian church, and took place before the
altar decorated with/ferns and cut
flowers. The room was Ruminated
to give an effect of twilight.
The wedding march wa« played by
Mrs. William Seymour, the bride and
bridegroom entering together,
ring ceremony was employed,
bride wore a simple ensemble of pow
der blue georgette, her hat, shoes and
other accesories matching. She wore
a shoulder corsag eof pink rose buds
and ferns.
Punch and cake were served after
the ceremony by the Misses Elizabeth
Thomas and Carolina and Hilma Shu
ler. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis left on a wed
ding trip by motor to Washington and
New York. They will make a short
tisit to the groom’s home on the re
turn journey, and expect after Sep
tember 3rd, to be at home at 613 Rut
ledge avenue.
The bride is tbe only daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Lathrop. She
was a member of the faculty of
Craft's school during the past year,
and made a very good record there.
She was entertained extensively af
ter the announcement of her engage
ment.
Mr .Ellis is co: nected with the At
lantic Coast Line railroad, holding a
position of trust, and having a stand
ing among his associates.
