“A meeting hat been held once each
month at the homes of the member*.
1 January there was a manorial ser
vice to Dr. D. B. Johnson; in March
articles from the Federation paper
were read; in April a report of the
convention of the Federation of
Women’s Clubs held at Spartanburg
was brought to us by Mrs. H. L.
Buist. The Chairman of the Program
Committee is planning to have several
programs on Frederic J. Haskin’s
Book, “The American Government,”
and several 6n Southern Literature.
“Dues of $1.25 have been collected
from members, $1.00 of this goes to
the Alumnae Association and 25c to
the Chapter.
“During the year telegrams were
>ent to members of the Legislature in
regard to tuition and compulsory edu
cation.”
The next meeting of the Chapter
will be held in September. The hos
tess served delicious Tefreshments of
ice cream, cake and salted nuts.

A marriage of interest' to her many
friends was that of Miss Ir.a Sanders,
of Barnwell, to James W. Gunter, of
Batesburg, the ceremony being per-
„ ^formed Saturday afternoon, May 11th,
^ by Dr. W. M. Jones at his home in this
city. The bride is the youngest
daughter of Mrs. Mary Sanders Hart,
and the groom is the eldest son of W.
E. Gunter, a prominent farmer of
Batesburg, and has been operating the
theatre in that town for some time.
