A. Kich. An article, 4 ‘Women djid World Peace,” by Mrs. John F. Simple, president of the Gen eral Federation of Women’s Clubs, was read by Mrs. D. K. Briggs. An open discussion of ^Friendship” followed a reading by Mrs. T. L. Wragg, “A Friend in Need,” by 0. 0. McIntyre. The hostess served a salad course. Three tables of bridge were enter tained at the home of Mrs. G. F. Posey Monday afternoon. Mrs. Somers Pringle was hostess to a party of friends at bridge Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. G. M. Magruder, Mrs. James Nerils, Mrs. G. F. Posey. Mrs. Pearl Mathis, Miss Helen Weissinger, Miss Emily Ingram, Mbs Elizabeth Shillito and Miss Eugenia Still were guests of Mrs. H. L. Buist Friday afternoon. Bridge was enjoyed. Date souffle and chocolate were served. The regular Thursday Afternoon Bridge club met this week with Mrs. Somers Pringle. Three tables were laid. Miss Rosa Rich ,held high score ’and Mts. Robert Smith cut guest prize. Mrs. Schirmer, of Charleston, was a guest. The hostess served de licious refreshments. Miss Rosa Rich was hostess to the Priscilla Embroidery club Friday af ternoon. Mrs. Ernest Weatherhorn left for Charleston Tuesday, where she Vill make her home. A score of friends regret her leaving Blackville, 'where she will be missed from the round of social activities. Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Funderburk and family motored to Charleston Sunday, where his daughter, Miss *Edith Funderburk, b in training at the Roper hospital. Miss Marion Bradford is a patient at the Baptist hospital in Columbia, where she has been for surgical treat- /ment. - Miss Lila Teal returned from Spar tanburg Tuesday, after attending the Music Teachers’ convention. Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt Browning, of Columbia, were week-end guests of relatives here. Mrs. Nellie Cave and Mr. .and Mrs. Langdon Cave and baby, of Barnwell, * were guests of Mrs. S. H. Rush Sun day. Mrs. H. L. DeWitt and Mr. and Mrs. Earl DeWitt, of Columbia, visited relatives here this week-end. The Dramatic club of tfie Black ville high school met Wednesday at the home of Helen Cain. The fol lowing program wa 8 given, “Where’s My Cake,” by t)oris Baughman; “Fred’s Mistake,” by Myrtis Boland; “Learn to Say ‘Yes,’ ” by Helen Cain; “Bread ,Butter and Romance,” by Jenice Brown; “Getting Rid of an Agent,” by Evc-lyn Crum; “Giving Aunt Jane a Shock,” by Evelyn Polia koff. An interesting contest was pro vided by the little hostess. Miss Meyer was winner of low score and Myrtis Boland high score prize. Red white and blue colors and small hatch ets were used.
