Iil»eral dona- $20.00, Last year the Goodfellows Club was organized for the first time in the his tory of Barnwell and those in charge felt that wonderful strides had beer, made in that thirty seven baskets were distributed to those in need and one bundled and sever,ty six hearts made glad. This year the committee has a record of fifty baskets and two hundred and twenty glad hearts. While not a s much ready cash was given the large derations of meats,, groceries, etc., more than supplied the wants of those in need. The baskets " contained the following: Twelve pound « ftaclc of flour, lajrge pork roast, toma toes, potatoes, rice, grits, sugar, cof fee, apples, oranges, nuts, ravins, pe cans, candy, toys for the children and clothing where same was needed. The groceries were purchased at whole sale and a committee met at the C!ourt House Friday morning and filled the baskets. On Satuiday morning the meats were brought to the Court House all ready for distribution that afternoon. The clothing donated this year was of superior quality and no committee was needed to mend same because the donees had caught the Spirit of Christmas and gave of their best, * (j The follow! g Very tions were made: Board of Directors, cadi which was prorated among the work ers at Blackville, Barnwell and Snel- ling. Messrs. Brown and Bush stait- ed off the fund with a check f r $10.00; Messrs. Harley ai d Blatt, a check for $5.00; Perry ManvilW* Bih'e (Mass, check for $5.00; J. K. Snelling and *L S. Black each gave $2.00, while all other donations in ca-h were f( i $1.00, names following in honor roll. Mr. and Mrs. (». M. Hogg gave a splendid {treated shoat; Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Moore, of Snelling. donated a 100 lb. about as well as money; Mr. and Mis. H. W. Sardera and Wilson Sanders 100 pound seek of rice; L. Cohen sugar; Creighton’s 5 and 10 Cent Store a number of toys; W B. Norris, Mrs. J. R. Renew, Long Bianch Club, ard Mrs. Broker Hartzog. Hilda Club, each donated sweet potatoes; M ss X^arrie A. Cave sent up a large hog of hats and splendid winter coats and a rumber of girls and women as well Were supplied from this very generous donation. Little Billy Bolen came in on time with his wagon filled wuth well kept toys for the little children. Billy was a liberal contributor last year ard took spinia! care of his toys the past year in order that he might make some fhild glad this year also. B. L. Easterling and Co. ag well as J. Herbert Black offered meats also hut the ommittee decided to hold their offer over until next year as the generous donations of meats by the above named was sufficient to supply the demand. The Barnwell Fruit Co. donated a hunch of bananas hut the tiuck reached here too late for dis tribution. but the committee in charge wishes to thar k this donor just the same. The following ladies rendered most excellent service and gave unsparing ly of their time and money as well, in order that the little chiidre. as well as those in need might he made glad on Chiistmas Day: Mrs. B. Eas terling, Mrs. M. C. Diamond, Mrs. B. F. Martin and Mrs. G. M. Greene, of the Baptist Church. 1 The Transportation Committee did splendid work and each family was reached in record time. The follow ing served: Mrs. B. F. Martir., Mrs. A. A. MsABister, Mrs. G. M. Hogg and Miss Margaret McAllister, who delivered about twelve baskets on Saturday afternoon; Mrs. B. P.
