Ellis have re- turned from their summer home at I Black Mountain, N. C., where they en-1 joyed a stay of several weeks. The following item from Tuesday's issue of The State will be read with interest by the Barnwell friends of Mrs. Little and Miss Riddle, both of W. L. Jackson returned from Rich-1 whom were members of the local mond and Baltimore Saturday, where! school faculty a couple of years ago: he went several days ago to buy new! Mrs. D. Fred Little was hostess at stocks of merchandise for the Farmers bridge Saturday afternoon in honor of Union Mercantile Co. honor. After bridge a salad course with iced tea was served. C., where ehe enjoyed “th<i land of the sky* for several weeks. Mrs. H. Blackwell, of Clinton, and son. Prof. L. J. Blackwell, of Clyde, N. C., were week-end guests of P. W. Stevens end family. Miss Annie Moody and Miss Ruth Keener, and Benjamin Davis, of Au gusta, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Sanders Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Furman and two children, of Los Angeles, Calif., were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Molair a few days last week. The fri««*ids of J. W. C. Reed w iH learn with regret that he has failed to improve very much after his recent operations and was forced to return to the Florence Infirmary for further treatment. The many friends of Clay W. Pate, of Savannah, Ga., who has been quite ill for several weeks at the home of his sister, Mrs. G. M. T. Claytor was hostess last week to the members of the Smart Set Bridge Club. The high score prize, ear rings, was won by Miss Julia I^emon and the consolation; pins, was cut by Miss Pauline Holman. Inasmuch as our Heavenly Father in His wisdom and love has called to her eternal reward our well beloved member, Mrs. E. A. Davisson, who was, as it were, the mother of our little Monday Afternoon Prayer Cir cle, we do with sorrowful hearts, pass these resolutions to her memory as a tribute of affection and esteem. Resolted— First. That in her removal from our midst we do feel a sense of keenest personal loss, rrrnembering with ten der appreciation that it was the sug gestion of her loving heart that we formed our little band to the glory of God and for the deepening of our own spiritual experience. Second- That in the midst of our sorrow, we do offer thanks and praise to God for tho inspiration of her con secrated life, for her constant, confi dent, joyful testimony unto death to the loving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and for her continual seeking by prayer and earnest admonition to further the advance of each one of us in the knowledge of His grace and truth. Third. That we do offer our deep est. most heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved members of her family and to her daughters in particular, assur ing them of cur earnest prayers that the comfort of the Holy Spirit may abide in their hearts by faith and out of this sorrow bring them into a new knowledge of the Saviour’s presence and power.
