C. Blackville, Mar?h 5.—On Tuesday afternoon, the 28th, The Tea and Topic Club of l^akville met with Mrs. 0. J. Fickling* After the trans action <f the luamess before the club, a Washington program, was earned out. Mrs. B. H. Duncan gave a brief sketch of the life of Washington, and thereafter two most attractive con tests p: rtsining to Washington were engaged in and much enjoyed by all present. The Mar h program will be a study of birds, and each member will an swer L o the roll call with the name of her favoiite bird, giving a few de- scrirtive remarks as well. Delightful ntfreshments were serv ed by the hostess. The Blackville chapter of Winthiop Daughters met Tuesday afternoon with the president, Mrs. Leroy C. Still. A motion was made and carried that the chapter join' the Woman’s Federated clubs. Miss Adele Gunter was appointed to frame alhd write the constitution for .the chaptei. Mrs. W. C: Buist was appointed as chairman of a program committee. An invita tion. was - extended to Miss Bessie & ■■■ “ Harper, president of Winthrop Col lege Alumnae association, to meet with the chapter March 27th. After the social session the hostess”served refreshments. On last Fiiday, Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Buist and son, James entertained in compliment to the local school facul ty. The entire front of the house was thrown en suite and the guests enjoyed themselves in progressive con versations, dancing and cards. About thirty-five young people were present. An iced -salad 'course was served by the hostess assisted by Mrs. G. F. Posey. The S. A. F.’s met on Tuesday at the home of Mrs. T. 0. Boland. Af ter a short business session the meet ing was turned over to the social feature; a George Washington con test was enjoyed and it being the anniversary of the chapter’s organiza tion a beautiful birthday cake bearing nine candles was brought in and cut with a tiny hatchet. Favors and place cards in keeping with the day were us«*l gyi delightful refresh ments were served. ————.— On next Tuesday evening at the school auditorium, the faculty of the Barnwell school will present a comedy drama entitled “Am I Intruding,” all of tho receipts to go to our local sehoof> so come out and boost our school and our neighbois. This will be the fourth and last of the series of plays put on by the school improve ments of Blackville, Barnwell, W-illis- ton and Dunbarton/ On Thursday evening Mr. an* Mnr. T. 0. Boland entertained the fac ulty of the Blackville school, about 15 guests being present. Music was furnished by Miss Lila Teale and Mrs. G. F. Poosy. All enjoyed play ing cards and “touring.” Refresh ments of sweet salad and Russian tea were served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. R. B. Still and Mrs? E. -H. Weissinger. _ The Busy Bee Missionery club m^t on Thursday afternoon at the heme of Mrs. T. L. Wragg._ Three tablea were set for “Hearts.” Mrs. Bui-st won the club prize, jf lowiy boudoir pillow.
