Church met Tuesday afternoon at the

Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Brown, Sr,
entertained the members of the Wed
nesday Afternoon Bridge Club and
their husbands Friday evening with
an old-fashipned egg-nog. The host
learned how to make nog in that dim
and distant age B. V. D. (Before Vol
stead Did) and he was ably assisted
by at least one gmtleman, who in that
same prehistoric age, could crook a
wicked elbow 7 and warble, “Here’s
how!”. It would, therefore, be need
less' to say that the occasion was
greatly enjoyed by all present.

..^Last Friday evening will' long be
remembered by the A. P. Magville
Bible Class of the Baptist Sunday
School, the occasion being an excel
lently prepared oyster and .* fried
chicken supper served this class by
the classes of Miss Anna Walker and
Mrs. V. IU Bonner. About six weeks
ago a contest was put on between the
Meii^V Bible Class * and the
Women’s Bible class ,the losing side
to furnish the supper. At the close
of] the contest it was founcl that the
men had gained the victory by a few
points and they were declared the
winners. They,, however, very gra
ciously offered to defray the expenses
of the supper and have the ladies from
the two classes serve them. Although
the weather was very inclement about
one hundred enjoyed this splendid sup--
per.

injured in an automobile accident here
several weeks ago, returned home

where he was taken for treatment.

Orangeburg, Dec. 30.—A delightful
surprise was given the many friends
of Miss 5 a ra Aldrich Richardson, of
Allendale and Columbia, and Wallace
D. Jeffords, of Orangeburg, when they
announced their marriage which took
place at St. Matthews December 14,
the Rev. Mr. Clark, pastor of the
Methodist Church, officiating.
The bride is the younger daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Richardson, of
Allendale, and the granddaughter of
Mrs. H. W. Richardson, of Columbiia,
where she has spent a large part of
her time. She is a pretty and cHarm-
ing girl and is a member of one of the
old South Carolina families.
Mr. Jeffords is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. W. D. Jeffords. He is a popular
ten.

Blanche Porter invited the guests into
the dining room, where a color scheme
of orange and green was effectively
used. The table, with its handsome
cover, was centered with a silver bas
ket of calendula, a nd on each end were
silver candle sticks* with lighted
orffnge tapers.. Mrs. B P. Davies and
Mrs. Edgar A. Brown, at either end
of the table,, poured tea and coffee
from silver urns. Sandwiches, cakes,
salted nuts and mints were served by
Miss Elizabeth Deason, Miss - Willie
Bush Deason, Miss Pauline Holman
and Miss Anna Sams Clark. ^

ding waa that of Miss Lizzie Hair, of
Elko, to Mr. David Ryan Cain, of
Blackville, which was solemnized at
the Elko Baptist Church Tuesday, De
cember 27, at three o'clock, the Rev.
C. K. Turner officiating.
With Miss Elizabeth Johnston at
the piano, the bridal party entered to
the strains of Lohengrin, the bride
with her maid of honor, Miss Marian
Keel, of Blackville, and the groom
with his best man, Mr. Campbell, of
Blackville. -
Immediately upon their arrival at
the altar, Miss Kathleen Finch, accom*
panied bv Miss Katherine Greene,
sweetly sang “0 Promise Me,” after
which the short but impressive cere
mony was performed. ?
The happy yoting couple left shortly
after the ceremony in their caV for
Florida. Oh their return they will be
at home in Blackville.
Mrs. Cain is the attractive niece of
Mr. and Mrs. W* M. Moorev of Elko,
and enjoys a wide acquaintance who
are glad that her marriage does not
take her faT from Elko. Th'e groom
is a young man of sterling qualities
and enjoys an enviabte^reputation in
Blackville, where he holds a responsi
