Maybe he was fooled by the icy-cold w<.«ather, as is the case with the ground-hog on some occasions. But the rosy cheeks were belied hy the black , work-rough ened hands that held the reins o£ the galloping horse that the alleged Santa Claus was riding instead of the time- honored sleigh and eight reindeer, which gave rise to tho suspicion that things were not as they seemed. But be that as it may, while other towns may have had ordinary parades and celebrations as a result of Mr. Lincoln’s proclamation back in the Sixties, the people of this city en joyed the rare specta'cle of an emanci pated St. Nicholas in broad day light, which is further evidence, if any be needed, that “Barnwell is Barn well.” Is Speed Personal? interested in the development of this turned to their home in Eastover after section of the State to attend this a stay of several days with Mrs. meeting in Allendale.
