Brown was hostess to the members of Ithe Wednesday Af ternoon Bridge Club last week. The high score prize was won by Miss Emeline Batten and the consolation was cut by Mrs. Charlie Brown, Sr. Duiing the afternoon refreshments, consisting of a salad course with- tea, were Served. ' s accomplished young woman, possess ing a charming personality, which wins for her friends by thti score. She was graduated with-honors from Limestone college in the class of 1922. She has since taught in the public schools of the State. At pres ent she is an efficient member of the faculty of Neojes school, which posi tion she has held for .the past four years. „ Mr. King is a young man of sterl ing character. He finished Wofford college in the class,of 1911, being president of his class and also of, the Carlisle Literary society^, IJe taught for some time in the Clydci school in Darlington County/coming from there four years ago to''accept th^ position of superintendent of the public school at Neeses. Decatur Barrett, of Charleston, who appeared here'in a song recital Wednesday evening of last week at the Vamp Theatre. His program was '-omposed of many beautiful and dif ficult sebrtions, which required real artistic ability. He received hearty applause on all his numbers and was brought back time and again for en cores. Mrs. Solomon T^Latt, of Barn well, was his accompanist. Another lovely / feature of this concert was foux' excellent numbers by Mrs. B. D. Carter, Mrs. Wilmot Jennings, Mte$ Edn a Lott and Pau Whittiker, of Bamberg, who,displayed a fine sp/fit of cooperation in their efforts to make, the program one of excellent merit and the evening a joy to ^fivers of music,. Mrs. Jennings, p 5 js a talented musician, rendered wo selections, one by Franklin and the oiheis by Kreisler. Two lovely duets by Mr$, Carter and Mr. Whit tiker were also greatly enjoyed. Camden’ Dec. 17.—Betty Neck plan tation at Lugv)ff wgs thei scene of a lovely home wedding Monday after noon when Miss Mary Arabel Ken nedy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Al fred Edward Kennedy, was married to Theodore Ralph Brown, of Barnwell. Mrs. Brown is a granddaughter of the late Gen.- John D. Kennedy, of Camden, and Mr. Brown is a promin ent young business man of Barnwell, wheni they will make their home. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. D. McAm, pastor of the Camden Presbyteiian church at 4 o’clcrk in the spacious hallway of the old plantation home which was bea i- tifully decorated with wild sntilax and holly, before a large and representa tive assemblage of relatives and friends. The young bride was lovely in ivory satin with real lace embrokkired with pearl end rhinestones, and a coronet Veil with bandeau of orange blossoms. Miss Elizabeth Kennedy, maid of honor, was charmingly attired in blue georgette, and Mjss Evelyn Beanne, of Springfield, the only bridesmaid, worq orchid georgette. Eugene Brown, of Barnwell, brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and Newman Connor, also of Barnwell was groomsman.
