If you arc one of those who think
this “materialistic” a (re is tottering to
a fall, be glad for Christmas. This is
the day when the years roll back and
all the world is young.
Let Dad get his Christmas thrill by
showing the children just how the new
toys work. Let Mother get her thrill
when the family pitches- in and dc-
-Vours the feast under which the table
groans. And the children—well, they
know how to enjoy Christmas without
a ny prodding. Steal a page from
childhood’s book, an(l be glad for
Christmas..
Magically, from aging shoulders,
you’ll find the burdens and caies of
this business of making a living will
drop away. Tomorrow, true enough,
they may return—hut who looks to to
morrow when Christmas is here?
Be glad for Christmas.

More Country-Cured
Meat Urged by Agent
In the live-at-home program one of
the most important elements is the
mpply of home-cured meat. Every
farmer who product* corn, peat and
'behns should have an abundance of
hogs which will keep the smoke-house
well stored with lard, jowls, shoulders,
sausage, ha. on and hamsr Not_
M 'all of these products^* tnere,
but they should have - the quality. No
meat is better than good country ham
which has sevir months to more than
a year of age. A good supply of meat
and lard greatly reduces the expendi
ture* necessaiy to provide for tho
household. Since not only animals
which make the meat hut feed crops
consumed by them can he produced
without reducing the nturns from
other sources, it is evident that to pro
duce on the farm the meat that is
Used will increase the farm income to
the extent of its value. ■*' “
A good demand exists in most every
community for country-made sausago
and country-cured hams and bacon.
More farmers are finding this a profit-
able market for their surplus hogs.
Meat is the most important rfingle
item of diet. Its odor and flavor im-
proves not only the appetite but diges
tion as well. It is the most complete
digested of foods, furnishes materials
in abundance for health, energy,
growth and repair of the body. Th^re
is no evidence to show that meat is
injurious to the health. On the con
it is one of the most healthful
nourishing of foods.
Many farmers can improve in a
number of ways all their methods of
ction as well as killing and
gpring of meat.
The county agent will be glad to
.^furnish suggi utions and information
“to any one end will send/to those
farmers desiring a list poRi^tion

be gotten from thlST'lmsle.
