The urban popula tion has gained through the movement from farm to cities as well as through natural increase. The farm population on January 1, 1027, was Mtlmated at 27,892,000, against 31.614,269 reported by the census on January 1, 1920. The de crease of 3.722.000 Is an average of 032,000 head per year. The total popu lation Increased from 100,710,620 In 1920 to approximately 117,900,000 on Janukry 1, 1927. Combining these fig ures, the population of cities, towns and villages has mcreqsod-. o 89,902,000! Tl\ls Is a -gain of 15,800,000 In the sevtn-year period. In 1926. 2,155,000 persona moved frop farms to dtles. while 1,135,000 morec^to farms. This would be a net movement from farms of 1,020.000. The natural increase in the farm popu v latlon due to predominance of birth over deaths was 371,000, so that the net decline In the farm population was 649,000. The movement away from farms Is one phase of the read justment of agriculture. While It has a distressing side, the more cities there are, the larger the markets for farm products and the better the chance of success for those who stay on the farm. * • Cautcy-Yoilmans Chevrolet Co. The ve,stee effect on the blouse and the smartly pleated skirt are .features ^easily carried out. For best results, we advise a fall sports material, such as jersey, kasha, wool crepe or, one of the new soft tweeds. ^All of these would be decidedly ^ood-looking in the new fall shades ^f beige, brown, gray or even the dark reds or blues.. However, in black satin or faille silk, with .a white flower and patent leather belt this style is stunning. . No dressmaking experience is needed to make this design. A per fect fit in every size is gulxran-.eed. 'May be obtained in sizes 16 to-44. Size 36 requires yards of 54 inch material.
