About forty young people enjoyed the occasion. Harley, Jim Diamond and G. M. Greene, with Mrs. Anar- strong acting as Foreman. The de fendant was placed in the prisoner^ dock, duly arraigned snd plead not guilty. Sheriff Dyche* was the only wit- nes put upon the stand for the prose cution. During the examination of this witness order had to be restored on several occasions, his replies be ing ludicrous in the extreme. Several objections were interposed by de- fendant’s counsel but were over-ruled. After the acting Solicitor rested his case the defendant was placeed upon the stand in her own behalf. Her testimony rivaled that of the Sheriff’s and wps very amusingl ^specially when pressed by the Solici tor on cross-examination. When the- hearing was completed the jury re tired to their room and very promptly brought in a verdict of guilty.
