The difficulty occurred at Mims'

altercation with his Wife. Attracted
by the cries of the woman, Super

a corner of the house with h's pistol
in his hand, Mr. SHU was felled by a
blow from the negro’s axe. Not
knowing that the supervisor was in-
injured, or indeed was anywhere in

1 “SEVEN POINTS” .
In the presentation of the new plan of the South Carolina Cot
ton Growers’ Cooperative Association, the explanation of the ac
tivities of the Association has been divided into seven points es
follows.
1. GOOD COTTON ACCURATELY CLASSED.
2. ADEQUATE MARKET INFORMATION.
3. EFFICIENT OFFICE AND SALES MACHINE.
4. OBTAIN MIDDLEMEN’S PROFITS.
5. SPINNER COOPERATION. ,
6. INCREASING CONSUMER DEMAND.
7. PROFITS FOR MEMBERS ONLY.
V. ' . ' '
Under eacH one of these seven ponts there is need for ex
planations which will be given later. , —
~ 6. Increasing Consumer Demand.
The ultinvate prosperity of the cotton industry is dependent
upon an increase in the con umei demand for articles made of
colon. The Cotton Textile Institute is at work upon this problem
and the American,Cotton Growers Exchange is cooperating. 'Con
tracts are bo ng made witjh the style renters of the world; wi.h
the great co.turners; dressmakers;, fashion designers and cotton
gcqds merchandisers, with the idea in mind that people can be
made to-wan things made of cotton if these creations are pre
sented to them in an ab.ractive manner. Already theJCaxhvoa de
signers of Paris and New York and the largest department scores
of the United Slates are featuring style creations made of cotton
good j under new and attractive style names. This ir a much bet
ter way to make people buy cotton goods thatr the old way of „
asking people to buy cotton goods to save the poof cob.on farmer.
