3 eggs
1 cupful of granulated sugar .
cupful of cold water
1 cupful of pastry flour
1 teaspoonful of baking powder
% teaspoonful of salt ••
2 teaspoonfuls of hot melted
butter
1 tcaspoonful of vanilla extract
Sift the flour once and measure it,
then add the baking powder and salt
and sift all together once more.
Break the eggs into a mixing bowl
and beat to a froth, add the sugar,
water, extract and flour, beating
thoroughly. Last of all whip in the
hot melted butter. This is a very
useful cake and may he baked in a
thin sheet and rolled for jelly roll,
baked in layers, or in muffin tins.

2 cupfuls of flour
2 teaspoonfuls of baking powder
1 tcaspoonful of vanilla
yi cupful of milk '
Prune Skillet Cake
3 table spoonfuls of butter
1 cupful of light brown sugar
$4 pound of prunes
Yt cupful of butter
1% cupfuls of granulated sugar
Heat the iron frying pan, and
place three tablespoonfuls of but
ter in it Add the brown sugar and
cook with the butter to a smooth
thick caramel, taking care not to
permit it to become too brown.
Meantime the prunes should be
choked in the usual manner, well
sweetened, drained and _ stoned-
Spread the prunes oyer the cara
mel mixture, then when the cake
batter is ready spread it over the
prunes and place in a moderately
slow oven. Bake about 45 minutes,
then run a knife about the edge of
the cake and leave undisturbed five
to ten minutes. Now turn the
skillet over onto a large plate. For
the batter, - cream the butter and
sugar, add the well beaten yolks of
the eggs, then the milk, flour sifted
with the baking powder and finally
the eggs.
Everyday Cake with Prune Icing
2 tahlespoonfuls of butter
1 cupful of sugar
2 eggs
1J4 cupfuls of flour
H4 teaspoonfuls of baking
powder
Yj cupful of milk
Flavoring as desired
Cream the butter and sugar, add
the well beaten yolks of the eggs,
then the milk alternately with the
flour and baking powder sifted to
gether, and the whites of the eggs
whipped to a stiff froth. This
recipe makes two good-sized layers.

1J4 cupfuls of sugar ~ ^
Y* cupful of water
$4 cupful chopped cooked prunes
2 egg whites
1 tablespoonful grated letnor.
