Moore and Mise Carrie Carson were week-end visitors to Charlestm and the Gardens. Mrs. E. W. Black entertained the Martha Watson Chapter, D. A. R., in the home of Mrs. W. D. Black on Thursday aftemom, April 7th. Mrs. W. H. Grogan enta-tiined Hart’s Battery Chapter, U. D. C., bn Friday afternoon. The usual report given and Memorial Day obee-- plamed. An account of the Diatrict meeting held at Summerville was given by Mrs. J. A. Latimer, president of Hart’s Battery Chapter. Mrs. Q. A. Kennedy, Jr., gave a very interesting program on “Ameri can Forest Week.” The chapter hopes to do some work along this line next year. The hostess served delicious refreshment*. - The following Interesting program waa enjoyed: “Sewanee River,” sung by chapter members; Florida Noc turne, Mi*. Whitaker; Listen to the Mocking Bird, Miss Grace Givens; The Battle of Natural Bridge, Mrs. T. P. MiteheM. Delicnj* ice cream and Jak^. were served. In hon:r of her little eon, Carlisle’s third birthday, Mrs. R. S. Stivender entertained last Thursday afternoon about twenty small boys and girls. They enjoyed various out of door games after which delicius refresh ments were served. Tuesday evening Miss Jacque Davis and Mrs. J. A. McCue were joint hostesses at a “tacky party” at the home of the former. The costumes were ridiculous., Mbs Kent and Mr. Cecil Folk were voted the tackiest. After enj:ying many games, , pink lemonade', ginger snaps and raw peanuts were served. A nice sum was realised for the organ fund. Mrs. Clothilde Smith Thompson presented her piano pupils it» an excellent program that Thursday evening at Hie home of her parent*. Dr. and Mrs. W. C. Smith! The guest* included the parents and friends of the pupils. The numbers were well rendered and shewed much studv on the pupils' part and excellent in- structi'ln on the part of their teacher. Those taking pant in the program were: Miriam Boyd, Patricia Baxley, LHlie and Rebecca Rogoi# Agnes Lati mer, Martha Frances Grubbs, Laura Smith, Sue Quatdebaum, Dot and Sadie Garber, Elisabeth Kennedy and Grace Givens.
