Dr. Middleton, of Charleston, again
delighted the congregation of the
Church of the Holy Apostles Sunday
with an • excellent sermon. He ' la
spending the winter in Charleston and
the members of the local Episcopal
Church are very fortunate in being
able to secure his services twice a
month.
The Wednesday Afternoon Bridge
Club met with Mrs. B. P. Davies last
week. After the games it was found
that Mrs Solomon Blatt had high
score and she was presented with a
linen jtcwel, while Mrs. J.’N. Ander
sen cut the consolation, and she was
presented with a towel also. A sweet
course was served during t^e after
noon.
Aiken County Man Suicides.
News has been received in Barnwell
of the tragic death of Bartow Bell, a
well known and highly esteemed resi
dent of the Kitchings Mill section of
Aiken County. It is reported that he
killed himself at his home Monday,
using a shot gun to end his life. Mr.
Bell had been in wretched health for
a long time and was almost blind. He
is survived by* his wife and several
children. Mr. Bell was about 64 years
of age. ' , • • •

Picture-Loving Folks!
Realizing that the picture-loving folks of Bamwell and surround
ing ‘ towns demand something clean, entertaining and wholesome
in motion pictures, the Vamp Theatre, Barnwell, under the new
management o'f N. E. Warner, has arranged for some attractive
bookings this Spring,, together with some added features which have
heretofore not been shown in Barnwell.
One of these features which the public will appreciate is a news-
. reel, showing the largest happenings throughout the country—news
events of moment in motion picture form just four days old, ahead
of the same off erings which appear in Columbia and other cities
around forty thousand population. This is an attraction which Barn
well has never had and can be seen nowhere else in this vicinity.
Under the new management, the theatre will be kept comforta
bly warm on cold nights by steam heat. The theatre is commodi
ous, with no crowding, and the place is kept in the best of order as to
cleanliness and quiet.
Starting Friday night and running (Saturday also, an unusual at
traction in “The Music Master, 9 ’ a Fox Production wiB be shown.
The comedy will be, “It’s a Pigis.”
Monday and Tuesday, January 31 and February I, the attrac
tion will be “Marriage License.”
Wednesday and Thursday “California in Forty-nine” will be
seen, together with a rich comedy, “My Baby.” ’
