If you V'.’ e the trouble to itemize at any rf t.he?e feasts, you will discover ffteen or twenty formidable ar- t.cles of diet, roaring their defiance at the half-dyspeptic stomachs. Appetite, frail at best, and sub ject to all sorts of intemperance by 1 ‘.bit, i.s n-jvertheless, an im- ptrous master that slays remorse lessly. The human being that holds nis appetite in subjection is a nero worthy of a medul. I once made a professional call to a patient in iijuuque, Iowa, f.ve hundred miles iron? my home; it was winter—the tom irutuvo below zero. I partook of nuor.-dlniier with the family, re luctantly, dreading the “company dinner." Imagine my surprise to behold th etsble set with the fol lowing: a well-done beef-roast, a loaf of rye bread, four baked pota toes and (horrers!) a pint bottle of berr!—one at each plate. There nay have been a tomato-relish or a small dish of pickles—I forget; a » nple custard was the desert i The simplicity of this diet im pressed me so that I have never forgotten. It was a German family, very well-to-do. Never had a mem ber of this family suffered from a digestive disorder. So far as the malt drirk was concerned, it was my first and only experience of that kind. The straight Democratic ticket was elected throughout, though in the county of Richland, in a county race, 48 ballots were cast for a man not nominated in the primary. McNeil was given 48 votes for the office of supervisor, though the party nominee, Andrew Patterson, received 832. The results of the election held in ■ 1 Spartanburg county were not sent in to the board and so it was not able to dechre the -esnlts for ’hat county. Scar- Xn X Answering an insistent demand for a beauti ful, well appointed four door, five passenger body on the smooth and nimble Essex chassis, the Sedan is now being shown for the first time. It has individuality in line, color and fittings. It is unusually comfortable in the seating arrangement. Upholstering is comparable in texture and quality with that used in costliest cars. ( No car, regardless of cost, rides any easier. None-is more easily handled in traffic. Esiex is nimble, quiet and gives unusual gasoline mileage. It has fine car qualities in chassis and body that assure long service. » The cost is but little more than for any four —^even less than for some four cylinder dosed cars. It is much less than you will pay for any six cylinder Se^an. “A Thirty Minute Ride Will Win You" *795 Essex ‘V* COACH *695 F. O. B. Detroit Phu War 1 HARLEY BARNWELL, V .Uti • r-:
