The many friends of Mrs. Lorftie
Calhoun, who has been seriously ill
at her home herv for the past several
days, will learn with regret that she
was carried to a hospital in Columbia
Tuesday afternoon for treatment. It
is earnestly hoped that she will soon
be restored to health.
Mr. U. B. Hammett, who has held
a very responsible position, with the
Internal Revenue Department of the
United States Government for the
past 20 years, has retired on a pen
sion and is now making his home in
Barnwell. His many friends are glad
to welcome him hack.
