and shown himself highly capable of
dealing with great questions of
national importance; and

the Democracy of Barnwell County
in convention assembled that we do'
hereby endorse the candidacy of the
Honorable Edgar A. Brown for the
United States Senate and commend
him to the people of the State of
South Carolina as a gentleman of
the highest character, ability and in

for the principle of States’ rights

Man Sleeps Like Log
and Eats Anything
“After taking Adlerika I can eit
anything and sleep like a log. I had
gas on the stomach and couldn’t keep
down or sleep.” (signed)’ R. C. Mil
ler. ONE spoonful Adlerika removes
GAS and often brings surprising re
lief to the stomach. Stops that full,
bloated feeling. Often brings out old

in your system. Excellent for chronic

present aspirant for the Senatorial
toga. Capt. Black was warmly ap
plauded at the close of his remarks.
Judge Simms pleaded with his au
dience to forget any personal or
political differences and likes or dis
likes and rally to the support of their
fellow citizen. He was also loudly
applauded and after the adoption of
the motion, Col. Brown expressed his
appreciation of the many honors ac
corded him by the people of Barn
well and Barnwell County during the
18%rears of his residence among them
and assured those present that, re
gardless of the outcome of the Sena
torial race, whether he be elected or
defeated, his address will continue to
be Main Street, Barnwell, S. C.
Many Oppose Change.
While the votes for delegates were
being counted, Capt. Black asked for
an expression from the Convention on
the advisability of changing the
present voter’s oath in the primary
elections to' allow the electorate to
cast their ballots in the national elec
tions for candidates other than the
nominees of the Democratic party.
Chairman Brown, in explaining the
change, stated that, ^n his opinion,
such a move- is inadvisable. Judge
Simms spoke feelingly against any
change in the rule and asked that
the Conveption go on record as be
ing opposed to such a change. Mr.
Blatt also opposed any change, stat
ing that he has been a Democrat ever
since his birth and hoped that he
woud die in that political faith.
Thos. M. Boulware, Esq., of Barn
well, fc«red that such an amendment
might disrupt the Democratic party
but, on the other hand, would serv*
as a check on the Demoersts of the
North and East if they attempted t(.
force upon the South a Presidential
candidate repugnant to their Demo-
craftic ideals.- J. Julien Bush. Esq.,
pointed out that the South already
has such a check in the- two-thirds
rule now in existence and that by the.
exercise of iU veto power, no distaste
ful candidate can be forced upon this
section. Capt. W. T. Walker, of the
Blackville Club, voiced a similar
opinion.
Mr. Blatt then moved that the Con
vention go on record as being oppos-
ed Ao any change in the present obli
gation and the motion war carried
unanimously^ :

Allendale and Hamptea Aha.
According to reports received here,

lutions endorsing the candidacy ef
Col. Edgar A. Brown, of this city, for
the United States Senate.
