We take this opportunity to wish every one of our depositors, customers and the other good people of our county a Merry
, . < ■ . - < r ' - • ^ ..
Christmas and a Happy New Year, and to thank you most heartily for the business you have given us this year, and the confi
dence and patience you have had in us, with the hope and wish that 1926 will bring all of us more Health, Wealth and Happiness.
Barnwell County is among the best and safest counties in the State for agricultural pursuits where we grow Cotton, Corn,
^Peas, Potatoes, Melons, Asparagus, Cucumbers, Cantaloupes; and, beginning first of tKe New Year, our bank will be ready and
willing to assist the loyal customers of our Bank in our Bank’s territory to gro^w these crops and for the larger farmers we will
endeavor to secure advances throughT tfic Intermediate Credit Association operated by the Federal Government. We are sug
gesting kindly to the farmers not to increase—rather decrease, their cotton acreage, as to grow another Sixteen Million Bale Crop
of Cotton would be hazardous. However, don t neglect your cotton, but try a small acreage of melons, Cantaloupes and cucum
bers to the plow. This can be followed by corn and peas. We will assist you to get the seed, and send a truck to your farm to
haul them, getting the best prices attainable, and it*s more important than ever that we raise everything we eat and our stock eats
on our own farm, and that “EFFICIENCY and ECONOMY" will be our slogan for 1926.

Community Bible Class Wants
Prohibition Law Enforcement
Blackville, Dec. 22 —At a rt'tfular
meeting: of the Dora Perkins Com
munity Bible Class of Blackville, it
was moved, seconded and unanimous
ly carried that the class pass a reso
lution for the purpose of Roinjc on
record as beinp in favor of the strict
enforcement of the Prohibition Law.
M committee was a^ipointed to draw
the resolution to be adopted by the
class at its retrxilar meeting held on
November 16th. 192f». The following
is a ropy of the resolution drawn by
the committee:
Whereas, we. the member* of The
Dora Perkins Community Bible Class,
both as a body and as individuals, Ih*-
lieve with Dr. Dor gun that strong
drink is one of the greatest f«K*s of
humanity and the direct cause of a
vast part of the crime committed in
our nation; and that tire use of intoxi
cating bever*£c* hurts everything
that is good and helps everything
that is evil, sapping individual char
acter, destroying health, cursing so
ciety, ruining homes, befouling poli
tic* and being instrumental in brng-
ing about counties* other evil con
ditions:
And Whereas, we further believe
that because of the fact that the
drink evil corrupts the oonscience,
weakens the mind ’and imperils
the soul. every Christian and
good citizen should be enlisted in a
* . . r*
warfare against strong drink, which
battle can best be waged by the creat
ing of strong public sentiment against
the violation of the Prohibition Law
and supporting 'miy those officers for
re-election who have shown them
selves vigilant in the enforerjnent of
nil law and n«*t»cn , arl\ in the en
forcement of ibis law. which is far-
reaching in its influence for bettor
conditions both so, ially ;«nd political
ly, and by making a determined ef
fort to vote in the first instance only
for those men whom we have reason
to believe will be strictly and active
ly for the strict enforcement of pro
hibition:
And Whereas, we also believe tlwvt
it is essential to the cause of prohibi
tion that we have a legislature that
is so heartily in favor of The Vol
stead Act that they will pass such
laws as are necessary to insure pro
hibition to a high degree and that the
individual members will prove their
belief in the laws so passml by them
selves totally abstaining from strong
drink:
And Whereas, wo realize that just
as the women of the country were
compelled to take the lead in having
a national prohibition law passed by
way of amendment to the Constitu
tion, so it is necessary for the women
of the Country to take the lead in the
fight for the strict enforcement of
prohibition:
THEREFORE, Be I( Resolved by
The Doi* Perkins Community Bible
Class that we, both as a body and as
individuals, .shall exercise our right
of suffrage wherever opportunity
presents itaelf in support of a strict
Enforcement of our/prohibition laws
to the end that onr town. State and
nation may be a better place for the
youth of our country to grow up in,
that our politics may be purified and
social conditions in general improved.
And be it further resolved that we
both as a body and as individuals
shall continue in prayer from time
to time that our country as t whole
b4 cor people as individuals shall
be freed from this great drink evil.
And be it yet further resolved that
a copy of these resolutions by publish-
in the County newspapers and a copy
mailed to the Town Council of Black
ville and to the Sheriff of Barnwell
County.
It was moved and seconded that
the foregoing resolutions be adopted
07 the class and the motion was un
animously carried.
