The first step in order to become'’a candidate and compete
for a prize is to clip the nomination coupon below; fill in your
name and address and mail or deliver to the Campaign Manager
of The People-Sentinel, Barnwell S. C. This coupon entitles you,
or the person you might nominate to 5,000 FREE votes. These
votes are given you as a starter and help to speed you on to
victory, bnly one such nomination coupon will be accepted for
each candidate nominated.

menW for Free Working Outfit, consisting of a receipt book, list
of subscribers in your locality,.sample copies of the papers, etc.

After you have filled out and mailed ih the Nomination
Blank, which makes you a candidate, and have received your sup-

plies to work with, the next step is to see your friends and

neighbors, relatives and acquaintances, and have them clip the
free coupon from their papers any pay up their srt>scription for
a year or more through you.
. - That’s all there is to it! However, you will never get any-
where unless you make the start, and while it will not be a very
difficult matter to win the Grand Prize or one of the Fords, at
the same time it will be no child’s game. You must plan your
work, the same as any successful business man plans out his
work for a season, and above everything, DO NOT LET ANY
ONE. DISCOURAGE YOU. Anything worth having is worth
working for. Eight short weeks and you may be riding in your
own automobile.
HOW TO WIN
, It takes votes to win, and votes are secured ih two ways:-
First, by clipping the free coupons from the paper. There is no
limit to the number you may secure. Begin gathering them now
while they are worth 100 votes each. The only restriction placed
on "Voting these coupons is that they must be deposited at the
Campaign Department on or before the expiration date printed
thereon. Get your friends to save the coupons for you—they
all count. '

The second and quickest way to get votes is by securing new
and renewal subscriptions to The People-Sentinei. On each sub
scription turned in a certain number of votes are issued, the
amount varying according to the amount paid. (See schedule
of votes and price of subscription below.) So, you see, the
more subscriptions you secure the more votes you get and the
better are your chances of winning one of the classy motor cars
or one of the other valuable prizes.

Campaign Department must represent a subscription. Votes will
not be issued on subscriptions for less than one year, or for more
than fire years in advance for any one candidate..
Votes are not transferable^ Candidates cannot withdraw in
favor of another candidate. Should a candidate Withdraw from the
• race, his or her votes will be cancelled. Neither,will it be permis
sible for candidates to give or transfer subscriptions to another
candidate. Ypters on such transferred subscriptions will be sub
ject to disqualification at the direction of the management.
Any collusion on the part of the candidates to nulify competi
tion or any combination formed ot detriment of candidates or this
newspaper will not be tolerated. Any candidate entering this or
taking part in such, combination will forfeit all right to prize
' commission.
All ballots issued on subscriptions may be held in reserve and.
voted on the discretion of the members; except that at /he dis
cretion of the campaign manager, no candidate may poll more
votes in any one twenty-four hours than 5,000 votes above the
leader in the previous standing.
In event of a tie, for any one prize, a prize identical in .value
will be given each tying contestant, but does not -automatically
advance the succeding candidate in thd prize winning class.
No statement, or promise made by any solicitor, agent or can
didate varying from the rules and statements published through
the columns of this newspaper will be recognized by the publisher.
In case of typographical or other error, it is understood that
neither the publisher nor the campaign manager shall be held
responsible except to make the necessary correction of the same.
Candidates in the campaign are authorized agents of The
People-Sentinel and as such may collect arrears and advance pay
ments from present subscribers as well as from lydr suberibers.
It ia distinctly understood and agreed that candidates will be
t resonaible for all money collected and that they will remit such
amounts in full at frequent intervals or on demand, t> the cam
paign department of The People-Sentinel. -
There will be numerous prizes- awarded, besides a 10 per cent
commission to all active non-prize winners, but it is under
that in the event that any candidate becomes inactive,
to make a regular cash report, he or she will, at the discretion
the management, become disqualified and thereby forfeit all rights
to a prize commission.
To insure absolute fairness in the awarding of prizes, the
race will be brought to s close under s scaled ballot kmc. During
the last three days of the campaign the box—locked and seataU-*
will repose in the vaults of a local S>ank where the candidates and
their friends-may deposit their filial collections and reserve v$tes.
And not until the campaign has been declared closed, will the
se&ls be broken, the box unlocked and in tiie presence of the
candidate? and other intere^ed parties, will the judges make the
Inal count. In this way no one—not even the Campaign Manager
—can .possibly know the voting strength of the respretive candi
dates, which precludes any possibility of favoritism and insures
fairness to the minutest degree.
The publiser reserves the right to amend the rules of this
campaign if necessary, for the protection of candidates or this
newspaper.
