THIS DEVELOPMENT—Beaufort Shores,
a suburb of beautiful Beaufort, is but a mile dis
tance from the postoffice and a block more from
the retail district.
Arrangements have been made by the de
velopers of this unusual site io supply it with *
city water and lights. There is an improved road
to within a few hundred yards of the develop
ment and this is being extended into the property,
which are being laid out in ample streets. Tele
phone wires have been run into the develop
ment, and ice, milk and groceries will be de
livered to every home.
It is within the city limits of Beaufort.
UNSURPASSED FOR HOME SITES—It
is the ambition of the developers of Beaufort
Shores to have residing in it a high class of citi
zens—home-loving folk. For that reason the
lots, during this pre-development period, have
been placed at modest figures; so that the fami
ly of moderate means will not be deprived from
acquiring either a superb summer or winter
home site.
Over a stretch of centuries, the islands of
Beaufort County have been noted for their health
giving properties and their invigorating climate.
It is the ideal climate for children. Many a sickly
child has been made well there. When the old
Spaniards discovered these lands, their chroni- ’
clers described with astonishment the longevity
of the Indian races inhabiting them/ and the pro-
t Situated in the most fertile and productive ,
section of the Atlantic seaboard, Beaufort
Shores is now opened cjk a pre-development basis '
to prospective home-owners. The price classifi
cation is merely temporary; for, when the section
goes under development shortly, these superior
home sites will have to be placed at tyigher figures.
There is no more beautiful place on the At
lantic coast than Beaufort Shores, lapped, as it is
on three sides, with the tides from the nearby At
lantic, it As the ideal site for a real home of com
fort and restfulness. *»
It is historic ground, and around it % legend
and history are interwoven in romantic appeal.
It was a famous ante-bellum duelling ground.
Across it, in successive waves, the Spanish,
French, English and Indians fought for the mas
tery of its soil. During the War of Secession, its
h^althfulness was so recognized that the great
coastal hospitals of the invading federal forces
were builded there. And soon it will be dotted
with the homes of people who desire a quiet and
cool spot in which to live, undivorced from those
modem comforts and conveniences so necessary
today.
The fortunate ones will make quick reserva
tions on this favored spqt.
Pre-Development Prices from
$400 to $900 a Lot
longation of' life is still noted there. Child
specialists in Augusta, Columbia and other near
by cities make a practice of sending sick babies
to Beaufort.
IN TOUCH WITH THE WORLD—Running
into Beaufort Shores and throughout Beaufort
County is a system of graveled roads which are
unsurpassed in this or any other section. These*
are all-weather roads, and most every automo-
bilist pronounces them superior to the hard-sur
faced type.
Within two to four hours’ drive from Beau
fort Shores are Savannah, Charleston and Au
gusta, and four to five hours are Columbia and
the cities of the great Pee Dee and 1 Santee sec
tions. Because of the high-class roads, soon to
be mads bettej than even they are now, the
teeming sections of. the South Carolina Piedmont
are within two hundred and fifty miles.
The Augustan and the Central South Caro
linian can visit their families at Beaufort Shores
during the week-end and be back with their busi- _
ness in time to stdrt it off on Monday.
. SAN$ INVESTMENT—No section of the
Union, according to economists, holds forth a
brighter future for dtvelopiheftt than the islands
of Beaufort County, in which Beaufort Shores is
destined to be an important factor. This develop
ment is directly on the national inland water
route, between Savannah and Charleston, within
y
Splendid Recreation
Of course, situated as it is on one of the won
derful South Carolina sea islands, Beaufort
Shores present unsurpassed features for zest
ful- a<water enjoyments.
The development is peninsla in contour
and it is on a plateau overlooking the surround
ing salty reaches. - v
Beaufort Shores is so situated that it gets
the full sweep of all the winds, it matters not
from which direction. The breezes off the near
by Atlantic coofit and the southerly winds lend
their genial warmth to it in the winter. •
On its shorees will be built hard beaches and
all the equipment for popular aquatic sports—
diving platforms, spring boards, and wharves
for boats, launches and visiting yachts—these
features are now being constructed and will be
ready for next spring.
There are no sections on the North Ameri
can continent where the chances for fishing and
hunting are better than in the neighborhood of
Beaufort Shores.
a mile of the great bridge being constructed to
connect Beaufort with Ladies Island, affording a
direct overland route that is being built to superb
Atlantic beaches, and within 20 miles *s the great
Atlantic Coastal Highway, from Quebec, Cana
da, to Key West, Florida, with its ceaseless
stream of tourists, cutting through % Beaufort
County.
“There is no doubt that there are possibilities
for a remarkable development along the coastal
region of South Carolina,” says the Greenville
News; and the Spartanburg Herald calls South
Carolina coast “a region of wonderful beauty, ca
pable of a development its people have never
dreamed of, if the world is let into the secret
places of its coastal beauty/* Other papers re
cently were just as emphatic of the undoubted
trend toward the South Carolina Coast.
THE MEN BEHIND IT—Every develpp-
ment takes on somewhat the personalities of’
those visioning men behind it. . Beaufort Shores
is being projseted by Mr. Niels Christensen, for
mer South Carolina State Senator, and his broth
er, Mr. Frederick H. Christensen, business part
ner for many years, and Mr. Arthur Christensen,
• who has charge of the extended real estate inter
ests, and their associates, under the corporate
name of Christensen Realty Company. These
men invite the co-operation of the buying public
in a development behind which they are putting
their resources, energy and enthusiasm.
