W*.- ( Kt' ‘Tour of the World” Was a Great Success On Friday evening the people of Barnwell were given an opportunity to “Tour the World in Eighty Min ute*,” this unique entertainment be ing put on by the Mary G. Harley Class of the Barnwell Baptist Sunday School. # Attractive booths representing the various countries were artistically arranged and eats of all kinds served according to the customs of these ooMntriea. Dixieland carried out the national color scheme and was most attractive. At this booth Mesdames Lloyd Plexico, M. J. Vann and Miss Willie Mae Vann served hot waffles, syrup, butter and coffee. Next came Hdland with its little Dutch girls in costume served ice tea, pineapple and cheese sandwiches. This booth was in charge of Mrs. Lloyd Sandifer and Miss Elfreda Grubbs. The next •popular stop on the journey was Africa, where could be had hot dogs, coffee, pickles, etc. This booth was very attractively arranged and the dusky damsels (Misses Etta Owens and Maggie Jones) were kept busy throughout the entire evening selling hot dog*. They rendered such ex cellent service that numerous posi tion* were offered them by the cus tomers needing help along this line. Next stop was in Japan where Japan ese maidens in costume served hq£ tea and sweet crackers from an artis tically arranged booth. This booth was in charge of Mutt* Rose Owens and Ruby Peacock as.Mrted by Miss Dorothy Sanders. In the renr of *he building the Sandwich Islands at tracted the attention of the tourists. On an elevated platform, beautifully decorated in for**it greens, delicious chicken sandwiches wer> sold by Mesdames Thomas Br.lcn and M L. Middleton. The last stop was Ice land, where Misses Elma Cave, Elisabeth Efsterlim; and Mamie Mc- Nab serve I ice cream and sherbets. This booth was most at tract 1 ve. oeary- thing being in ,-ure white and st real was the effect that made one clover to look upon it A lar/r ee.Ke was given away to the holde» of the lucky ticket, a ticket being given with each purchase. This cake was won by Miss Elma Cave. Another cake was given to the holder of the lucky num ber and was won by Mr. King. This cake was in charge if Miss Juanita Hayes. Two strolling musicians, Misse* Zelma Diamond and Floride Jackson, dusky as well as dusty, fur nished music throughout the evening on the guitar. Throughout the en tire evening music was furnished by Miss Annie Moody on the Victrola. Quite * neat sum was realized and al together a delightful evening was spent by the large crowd who attend- W. A, Norris are the proud parents of a son. Mr. and Mrs. Cleve Sanders and family were visiter* In this section -Sunday. Miss 'Edna ProveauX, of Olar, spent last week-end with Miss Ina Sanders. Mis* Pnoveaux is teaching the Galilee school. The school here opened Friday, October 2nd with a large enrollment. Dr. W. M. Jones,Supt. H. J. Crouch and Prof. Fowler, of Barnwell were present for the opening exercises. Mrs. W. W. Hart, Mrs. Matilda Grooms and Bttle Olive and Thelma Sander* of Ba-nweT! spent Sunday with Miss Ina Sanders.
