turned home after a pleasant visit to

Mr. Oscar Hale, of West Virginia,
is spending some time in the city
visiting friends. Mr, Hale was
catcher on the Barnwell baseball club
several years ago, when the Tri-
County League was in existence.

Buick Co., was in the city Monday
demonstrating one of the new Buick
cars.
Mrs. Minnie Calhoun is in a Colum
bia hospital for treatment. Her
many friends hope for her early re
turn.
__ Lieut. George H; Kirkland Jr., of
Mississippi, was the guest of his
aunt, Miss Emma Kirkland, for a
short while Sunda^ while en route
to Fort Moultrie. His father, who
is a native of Barnwell, is one of
the largest cotton farmers in Mississ
ippi, his crop this year being esti
mated at 1,000 bales.
Mr. and Mrs. Grady Hazel, of John
ston, were visitors here for a short
while Monday afternoon, en route bo
their home after a visit in and around
Allendale. Mr. Hazel has been edi
tor of The Johnston Herald for some
time, but it ifc understood that he has
sold his interest in the paper fcnd ex
pects to go to Florida.

Mrs. Scott’s mother, Mrs. J. F.

Jemmie Wise, who made Barnwell
her home for several months, is liv

Traffic Routed Through Town.
Local radio fans will be interested
'in the announcement that Harry
Snodgrass, famous radio entertainer
who won the title “King of the Ivor-
fes” while he was a prisoner in the
State Penitentiary at Jefferson City,
Mb., will once more broadcast for his
admirers throughout the country. The
date as anounced by station WOAI
is August 23rd and the place is San
Antonio, Texas. The exact hour is
not known, but those who wish to
hear him may get* the time by tuning
in on San Antonio a day or two be
fore the 23rd. * *

the week-end at Myrtle Beach as the
guests of the former’s sister, Mrs.
Mr. Carter Butler, of Atlanta, was
in the city Monday shaking hands
with his friends, after an absence of
many years.
