R. held a very important mee ing with Mesdames T. J. Mauld and Ernest Folger in the home the latter on the afternoon of Tuc day the 7th inst. Among the many important m ters for discussion was moving pi tures. This great organization h, plans on f ot which will be the meal of having all unsightly pictures abc ished. Then the D. A. Mrs. Wayne Mauldin read a mo; beautifully preparcd paper on tI lives of some of our president wives. Mrs. Folger's pretty home was al tistically deocorated with Georg Washington's colors, and the delic ous refreshments wvhich weore serve< added a finishing charm to this moi deolightful occasion. It has as news of the county schools, qs well no as articles telling what it takes to 19 make an efficient school. It is bound no to promote the interests of the pub - lic schools of Pickens county and in that way will increase the happiness and prosperity of its people. as If any other county in South Caro ls lina has a similar publication, The Is Piedmont has never heard of it. It as looks as if "Pickens County School 1. Life" is the first magazine of this le sort in South Carolina, and, if so, it le sets a most commendable example le for every county in South Carolina. al When the people are given full in formation as to the condition of then public schools and as to what al they lack, the schools will be up a builded rapidly, for they are close to the heart of the masses. . With much pleasure and pride The Ly Piedmont congratulates and con mends' the enterprise of those who at have begun this fine work in Pick ens county. Inasmuch as the sub scription price to "Pickens County School Life" is only one dollar a 1s year, The Piedmont hopes that the is friends of public education, not only in Pickens county, but also in this county and elsewhere in this state, will send their subscriptions to F. Office of County Supt. of Education is of Pickens County. Whereas a petition from the free holders and electors of Sir. Mile as School District No. 27, has been filed 2. with the County Board of Education of Pickens county, asking said board pern-ission to hold an election in said school district to determine whether 5. or not four mills extra levy shall be s levied in said school district for school purposes. It appearing to the County Board is of Education that the petition meets is the requirements of the law, there fore, it is ordered that the trustees of the aboved named school district do hold an election February 18, 1922, -r at the school house for the above t- stated purpose. The trustees are to in be managers v.nd shall conduct the )f election as all general elections are s- conducted, and in accordance with Section 1208 of the school law.
