Mrs. Henderson, in her beautiful home
entertained about forty old ladies for.
. her mother, Mrs. Mack Farmer, of
Easley. We will not hesitate a mo
ment in saying it was one of the
most beautiful parties of the Yuletide
season. Sure enough we were all old
ladies; but you never saw such a
han(some set of old ladies. We were
all dressed in our very best and did
our level best. While we pushed old
Father Time back fifty years and
made ourselves believe we were again
the belles of 1870. We had all this
to do to keep pace with Mrs. Mack
l"arner. She was the lassie of the
party. From January 2nd, 1859, to
January 2nd, 1922, Mrs. Farmer was
growing up to and living through a
lovely w: manhood: and don't forget
it, the t.; years were well spent, for
today she is a good speciman of a
sweet old mother in Israel, and no
wend( r her daughter delights in
showing her olt to her many friends.
SIe is proud of her and well she may
be, and we are all proud to know her
--so happy to have a chance to be
with her when she comes to Ander
son. With some of us we couldn't
think of a party and maybe meet with
strange faces. )eath has made our t
hearts ache till we want to hide away r
and keep our sorrow all our own; C
but this is not the feeling you have I
when you place your hand in that I
of dear old Mother Farmer. You I
want to lay your ad on her shoulder <
and listen to he' words of comfort
that seems every word a prayer, for
she, too, knows how to weep and her -
heart always aches with those who
sorrow. Yes, we are glad we had the
pleasure of this party; but sorry as
we can he that we can't do justice
in describing it; but sure as you live,
it was good to be there.
The refreshments were tip top-the
very best, our1 city Could give, and
just heaps atol heaps of it, and would
vou Ialove it. \irs. liendersoni had
about. ' dozen (f the very prettiest
girls in town to wait upon us. They

whil1 all this time a piano and two
'violins were doing their best, and
