That all residents, whether * f property or tcenants oe - . *he same, within the corpo. * s, shall keep their premises iand healthy condition, and in or personA failing to re m iisancee, when requested to *the Board of Health shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and m he punished at the discretion of tb Mayor within the limits of his autl ority. Such nuisance may be abate at the expense of the owner or o cupant. Sec. 2. That it shall be unlawt1 to establish any slaughter house o butcher pen within the corporat limits of the Town, and any persoi or persons so doing shall be liable t fine or imprisonment, at the discre tion of the Mayor within the limit; of his authority. Sec. 3. All persons keeping hog; within the corporate limits of the Town of Norris shall be required t< keep them in pens not less than f feet square, and raised at least 1 inches from the ground. Any per son or persons violating this ordi nance shall be guilty of a misde meanor. Sec. 4. That this ordinance shal be deemed general and perpetual shall go into effect upon its publica tion and continue of force until're pealed or amended. That all places of business or amusement must be closed or Sabbath day except Drug Stores Livery Stables, Garages and Restau rants and the violation of this see tion shall be deemed a misdemeanoi Sec. 11. That any person foun loafing on the streets of Norris hav ing no visible means of earning a honest livlihood, shall be deemed vagrant. Sec. 12. Any failure to observe this act by any person or persons, except as above mentioned shall be deemed a misdemeanor and upon conviction - shall be fined in the sum of not less than Five Dollars $5.00 or more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) or of not less than five days or more than thirty days upon the streets of Norris or the public works of Pickens coun ty. AN ORDINANCE TO RAISE SUPPLIES AND MAKE APPRO PRIATIONS AND PAY PAST IN DEBTNESS FOR THE TOWN OF - NORRIS FOR THE YEAR 1920 Be it ordained by the Mayor and I Aldermen of the Town of Norris, in - Council assembled, and by the author 1 ity of the same. Sec. 1. That a tax of ($1.00) one dollar on each ($100.00) One Hun i died Dollars of the assessed value of n all Real Estate and personal prop d erty to be levied for ordinary Town h purpose3 to defray current expenses - and past indebtedness during the I fiscal year comencing Jan. 1. 1920. s Sec. 2. That on Circuses and other shows a tax at the discretion of the Mayor shall be levied. Sec. 3.That each and every person liable to road duty under the laws of e the State shall work on the Streets 12 1e days or pay at the rate of 50 cents id per day under the direction of the 1g Mayor or some one in his stead under d the same penalty as prescribed by the laws of the State for any refusal or r. neglect to perform said work;-Pro vided that said person shall be per ns mitted to pay on or before January he 1st, 1921, a commutation tax of $3.00 ty but each and every one failing to pay on or before January 1st, shall be horequired to pay $6.00. Any person aming to the Town after June 30th, '1 be required to pay $1.50 for fall 'g; provided he has not worked a aere. That any person failing or refusing to pay the commutation or tax aforesaid, or to work the Streets P' under the direction of a Policeman is, mencing with his tearm of office, to be apaid monthly out of any funds, in the k-treasury available for ordinary town bepurploses. rSec. 6. That the Mayor shall be paid s.. a salary of $150.00 per year com at urer receive for their services $200.00 in per annum. Sec. 7. The Tax on Real or person e- al property provided for in this or g dinance shall be collected during the e months of November and December d and any person or persons who shall o fail to pay such taxes on or before a January 1st, 1921 shall be liable to a penalty of one per cefnt on such tax, dI(uring the month of January, shall be liable to a penalty of two per cent -on such taxes during the month of -February, shall be liable to a penalty of three per cent on such taxes to March the 15th, and after March the S15th, shall -be liable to a penalty of fifteen per cent on such tax, and the tax with the penalty and cost shall be collected by execution or other wise.
