The pirno, parlor furniture and mattress that the Gantt Furniture Co., of Liberty, is going to give away are now on exhibition at their store. The first bale of cotton ginned by Reece's gin this season was for R. H. Herd, September 8. A 515-pound bale was got out of 1215 pounds of seed cotton. Palestine school district of Pick ens county recently voted unani mously in favor of issuing $500.00 worth of bonds in order to complete their new school building. Eleanor Elizabeth Crane, 10-month old (laughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will Crane of Pickens, died Saturday night. The little body was laid to rest at Secona Sunday after funeral services conducted by Rev. F. T. Cox. The heartbroken parents have tihe sympathy of the community in their great loss. Samuel Skelton, who accidentally shot and killed himself with a pistol he thought was unloaded at his home in Greenville last Sunday, was a na tive of Calhoun, Pickens county. lie was a son of S. O. Skelton, who lived at Liberty a long time, and had many relatives and friends in this county. He visited in Pickens only a few days before his death. Whereas, a petition has been filed with the trustees of Kings school district No. 25, in said county and state, signed by more than one-third of the registered freeholders of the age of twenty-one years of said school district as appears by the cer tifeates of the county auditor of said county attached to said petition, praying that the trustees of said school district order an election to determine whether or not bonds in the sum of One Thousand Dollars shall be issued by the said school district for the purpose of school im provement; And it further appearing by the certificate of the county auditor of said county that the proposed bond issue cf One Thousand Dollars does not exceed four per cent of the as assessed valuation of property for taxation in said district, including outstanding bonds. Jt is thterefore ordered by the board of trustees of Kings school dis trict No. 25 that an election be hel in the said school district on the 24th day of September, 1921, on the ques tion whether such bonds shall be is sued or not, said bonds to be issued in denominations of One Hundred Dollars each to run for a period of twenty years from the date of issue and bearing six per cent interest, payable annually. At such election only qualified voters residing in this school district shall be allowed to vote. The polls shall open at 8:00 o' clock a. m. and close at 4 o'clock p.m, The ballots to be voted must have written or printed on them the words "For Bonds" or "Against Bonds."
