Gape Allsop Was arrested Tuesday morning for firing four shots at ran dom. He wvas acquitted of the charge wvhen he provedI that he only fired three times at random and the other time at Dag Smith. Bill Hellwanger was badly shot while engaged in a game of marbles on Petunia Ridge early this week. The bullet wvent through the bosom of his shirt and he caught it up with out much injury. Ill feeling between him and the defendant is given as the direct cause of the unfortunate af fa'ir. CLAIMS KILLING WAS ACCI DENTAL. T. J. Tally, Negro, Lodged in Jail Yesterday on Charge Murder. T. J. Tally, 20, negro of the Brushy Creek community, was lodged in the county jail in Anderson Wednesday afternoon on the charge of murder in connection with the killing of Lee Brown, which occurred at a negro church Tuesday night. An inquest was held Tuesday and Tally was held responsible for the death of Brown, who Tally claims was killed acci dentally. When brought to jail, the negro stated that the killing was purely ac cidental, a revolver being discharged while he and Brown were scuffling over it on the church grounds. Ac cording to the prisoner, ho had just arrivedl at the negro church, when Brown caine out of the church and walked over to him, throwing his arms around Tally's waist, Hie then attemptedl to pull Tally's gun from his pocket, and in the scuffle that fol lowed, the gun was fired and Browvn was instantly killed.. Testimony at the coroner's inquest shows that the negroes were in a scuffle when the gun was dischargedl, but witnesses were not sure It was ac cideantal. SUNDAY SCHOOL CONVENTION.
