tells us that it has been reported that
he is the author of the poem .entitled
"An Ode to the Girl," recently print
edI in this paper, and he fears the
report is damaging his reputation as
a public singer and song writer. We

couple have a host of friends who wish
for them a happy life together.
Rev. C. R. Abercrombie tilled his
regular appointment at Holly Springs
Sunday afternoon. A Sunday school
was organized and is under Mr. Jew
el as superintendent. We hope that
much god will be done.
Rev. C. R. Anderson preached a
godly sermon at the chaingang camps

DEATH OF MR. PERRY DURHAM.
The friends of Mr. Durham were
shocked to learn of his death Sunday
night, the 12th. H-e dlied at his home
near Tarrepin Crossing. Mr. Dur
.ham had an operation on his head
two w.eeks before he diedl and seem
ed t- be improving the first week and
wasi brought home from Greenville.
Hie leaves a wife (who was Miss Ada
Go~udlock) and two children, a lit
tIe ten-year-old girl and a little boy.
H iis father is Mr. James 'Durham, of
near Six Mile. H-e only had one
brother and one sister, Mr. J. W. M.
Durham, of near Six Mile, and Mrs.
Lula Cochran, at Mountain View,
lHe was buried at Fair Viewv church
on Monday at 2:00 o'clock.
We know he has gone to a wvorld
where there is no night there. About
two hours before his death he called
his lovedl ones to his bed sidle and
toJld each one wvhat he wan ted them to
do. He told his little blind daughter
to go on to school until she finished.
He then said,' "I am going to live
with Jesus."
Oh, how w.e shall miss you as on
through life wve roam, but we shall be
mlor'e anxious for that home, know
ing that you are there.

Friends and relatives sympathize
s with Mr. and iMJrs. G. B. Bell in the
loss and delith of their little grand
son, Clark Bell, who (lied at the An
r (lerson hospital last Sunday morning
after undergoing a serious operation
for appendicitlus. The bright little
fellow, age live years, was only sick
about a week, and when he was only
three weeks old his mother died, leav
ing him under the care and guardian
ship of his grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. G. B. Bell.
Mr. Watson, of Liberty, spent
Sunday with his two little boys,
Ralph and Harry.
Mrs. Reynolds is visiting relatives
in and around this section.
Mrs. Henry Newton is still con
fined to her room. Her friends wish
for her a speedy recovery.
The misses Owens and their
brother spent Friday evening with
Mrs. Roper.
Mr. Charlie Warren, wife and two
children visited his parents in Oco
nee county recently. Mr. Warren
has charge of the Liberty Power
plant, situated on Twelve Mile river
and known as the Hunter's Mill, a
distance of four miles from the town
of Liberty.
Quite a crowd of townspeople come
over every spring and summer for
picnics and parties. We are looking
for their ainnual visit this season.
Mr. Paul Clayton and J. N. Jones,
electricians of the power plant at
Central, wvere up last week, working
on the company's line.
Mrs. Smith is very sick at this
writing.
All fools day was carried out last
Friday morning at the Norris Graded
School. All the teachers and pupils
ran away from school and hiked
about two miles. Professor Marvin
Lawrence is in charge with the fol
lowing teachers: Mrs. Marvin Law
rence, Misses Loraine Godfrey and
Minnie Sheriff.
