lege, Baptist pastor, will speak on the

din school house Thursday night, No
vember 28. The girls are urged to
bring boxes and the boys their pocket
booka. Proceeds go to school library.
Bennett IH. Powers who has been
flaging on the Southern Railway for
several months has been promoted to
baggage master. Good luck, Bennett,
but look out for the big trunks.
John C. Carey, of Charleston is visit
ing in Pickens this week. We venture
there are some who look forward with
pleasure to the day when "Johnnie will
conmc marching home. " And wve hope
the time is not far distant, for we need
him in Pickens.
Arthur Allen, son of 'T. IR. Allen for
merly wvith Pickens Hardware Co., but
at present holding a position with the
Sullivan-Markley Co., in Greenville. is
visiting relatives in Pickens this week.
Arthur is in Uncle Sam's Navy.
There will be a community singing
Thursday morning (Thanksgiving) at
10 o'clock at the Baptist church. This
singing will precede the Thanksgiving
service. Everybody is urgedl to at
tend and help out.

solved: That the African negro has
been more cruelly treated than the
American Indian. There were three
speakers on the affirmative and three
for'the negative. The decision was in
favor of the affirmative.

Thelma Lewis and Bernice Carey were
in Greenville Saturday.''
