the Glenwood Mill, Easlev. The
''exas Gospel Band has been employed
for this work. This band has just come
from a three weeks' meeting in Iva, S.

Many Pickens people attended the big
Liberty Loan parade in Greenville last
Thursday when about 18,000 soldiers
passed in review.
U Mrs.: J. P. Carey, Jr., has returned
from a trip to Charleston and Colum
bia. She represented Pickens county
at a liberty loan meeting at Columbia.
The Iistrict Grammar school contest
for Pickens District will be held in the
Pickens Graded School Auditorium on
Saturday morning commencing at ten
o'clock.
The Baptist Ladies Aid Society will
meet with Mrs. Olar Hinton on Monday
the 8th instant, at four o'clok. Every
woman in the church is invited to be
present.
Rev. J. M. Stewart, who has been
quite sick, is better. Mr. Stewart is
is one of the county's oldest and best
citizens and numerous friends will be
pleased to know he is growing stronger.
Mi. ses Frances Bruce of Converse
College spent Easter with her parents,
Mr. and M9s. J. MeD. Brued. She was
accompanied by two of her classmates,
Misses Gertrude Mason and Grace Boy

held next Saturday for three trustees
of the Pickens school. It has been four
ye'frs since trustees of this scheol have
been elected.
Miss Fournay, State Demonstration
Agent, will be at the school house on
Thursday morning at ten oclock to teach
how to make cheese. Every woman,
both from the town and country, is in
vited to be present and learn this good
work.
There will be a musical entertainment
at the school house Friday night, April
5th, 1918, at eight o'clock. It is to be
given by the Timrod Literary Society
for the benefit of the school paper.
The admission Swill be only ten cents.

Sergeant John T. Flahiff, an Amenri
can soldier who fought in some of the
greatest battles of the present war
with a Canadian regiment and who bas
been "over the top" many times, will
lecture at the Pickens school audito
rium Thursday night, A pril 1L. Larger
announcement will be~ made next week.
This will be his only lecture in Pickenr
county.
