Macon, Ga.--A tornadlo, followved by
a torrential rain, swep~t dlown upon
Macon a'nd vicinity, killing one man
and injuring soaveral others and doing~

and at Camp Wheeler, near here. All

off' shortly after the storm broke, but

*had flooded many of the hospital tents,
16 of which were blown downt. It was

tents but early reports from the camp
said there were no injuaries.

Washington.-A government powder
plant to cost $60,000,000 and to employ
about 16,000 men is to be established
by the war dlepartment near Nashville,
Tonni. Major General Crozior, chief of
the ordlnance bureau,. annot need the
selection of a site at Hadley's bond on
the 'Cumberland river, about 12 mIles
from Nashville. Construction will be
stai'ted immediately. A number of
these plants are to be established.
