Mrs. H. A. Townes spent last week
end with Mrs. Rawley Hollingsworth
in Greer.
B. P. Kelley, well-known and sub
stantial citizen of Central route 3, was
here on business Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Will P. Stewart, of
Calhoun, Ga., are visiting roatives and
friends in Pickens county.
Isaac O'Sheals, well-known citizen of
Dacusville, was at the county seat on
business one day last week,
Miss Pearl Hester delightfully enter
tained a number of school friends and

Mrs. Jesse Morris, of Pickens, will
X teach the winter term of the Mica
school. Her work begins this week.
Mrs. George Hall arrived last week
from Detroit, Mich., to visit her pa
rents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. O. Thompson.
During the months of January and
February preaching hours at the Pick
ens Mill Baptist church will be 2:30 and
7 p. m.
Mr. and Mrs John Boroughs, of the
Praters section, have recently moved to
Liberty. They occupy the Dr. Smith
residence.
B. S. Johnson, who was stricken with I
paralysis about a week ago, is improv
ing. He can now recognize his friends
and is able to talk some.
The Pickens Railroad was among
those taken over by the government last
week. So far as the public is concernec)
there is no difference yet to be seen.
Roadmaster Gibson and family moved
'onday into the B. E. Grandy house on
Hampton avenue. The Grandys expect
to move to Orangeburg county in a short
time.
The vital statistics report records the +
recent birth of a son to Mr. and Mrs. I
Ray Lynch of route 4, and also one to
Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Chastain, of route
three.
Miss Mattis Griffin, who is spending
the holidays with her parents in Pickens,
has returned from Ninety-Six, where
she went to sing at the welding of a
friend.
Albert Davis, who lives on thd liagood
Place, had the misfortune to cut oil' two
of his toes last Saturday while chopping M
-wood. Drz. Valley of Pickens d re.ssed
the wounds.
D~an Sutherlend, of the Mica section,
has~ sold his farm to IFelix (Bub) Hien
drix, of Easloy. Mr. Southerland and
Ifamily leave this week for Easley, where
they will make their home.

of Miss Cleo Hlallum on last Thursday
evening, D~ecember 27th, in hiotor of
Miss Helen Gassaway, of Andlerson.

IBen F. Parsons and family mo.ved last
week fsom Pickens to Greenville to
make their future home. He tells us
that he has not fully dlecided yet just
what business he will engage in. Mr.
Parsons made his home in Pickens for
many years and was one of the best
known men in the county. lie mind his
excellent family take wvith them best
wishes of many friends. He has not
finally disposed of his stock of goods
in Pickens, we understafid, tho the
store is closed0.
George- D. ('ureton, who was raised
in Pickens, but who for the past several
y'r has been i': the west, being lo'
cated at Chayenne, Wyoming, where he
has been engaged in business, being in
terested in a chain of drug stores
throughout the state, but who is now
actively engagbd in the oil business, is
in Pickens on a visit to bis niother and
brother, Mrs. J. D. arid Chas. L. Cure
ton, and other relatives. 'He is accom
pe nied by his wife and children. George
lunks well andl prosperous. His~ many
old Irienids are glad to see him.
