F. E. Alexander of Anderson was a a visitor in Pickens last Sabbath. Mrs. A. M. Morris is on an extended visit to her brother, Will A, Mauldin, in Greenwood. Mrs. M. W. Newton was called to the bedside of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Gentry. at Columbia last Friday. Messrs. Gignilliatt and Bristoe Chris topher of Greer and Gaffney, respec tively, spent Sunday with theim -rents in Pickens. Charles Curtis, Oliver Boggs, Homer Edens and Marvin Hutchings, from Clemson College, were among their Pickens friends last Sunday. Rev. L. L. Leytus of Bishopville will preach at thejPresbyterian church Thursday, the 29th, at 8 o'clock 1). in. The public is cordially invited. There will be held in the Methodist church next Sunday morning, April 1, at11.15o'clock, "A Dry America Rally." An address will be made by Rev. Dr. Claflin, secretary of the National Anti Saloon League. There will be observed in the Metho dist church a week of prayer. beginning Sunday night, April 1, and continuing thru the week every night, at 8 o'clock. At the head camp meeting of the Woodmen of the World held at Green wood last week, Rev. D. W. Hiott of Easley was elected as one of the seven delegates from this state to the sov ereign camp at Atlanta next May. According to the government's report 15,749 bales of cotton of the 1916 crop were ginned in Pickens county, while the 1915 crop for this county amounted to 17,885. While the 1915 crop was greater by 1,136 bales, the 1916 crop brought hore than twice as much money. The Ladies' Aid Society of the Bap tist church will have a sale of spring goods consisting of shirt waists, aprons, boudoir caps, etc.. at the Hollingsworth old store room next F riday, the 30th. Commencing at 2 o'clock p. in. The public is cordially invited to visit their emporium. Ilot coffee, chocolate and lunches will be served.
