McFall spent Christmas wit relatives in Kingstree. Judge T J Mauldin is holding court ir Spartanburg for the first time. Master Byrd Lewis of Easley has beer visiting his sater, Mrs. J. E. Boggs. Prof. T. H. Campbell spent a part oj the holidays with his mother at Mullins. Mrs. A. J. Boggs has been seriously ill, but we are glad to report that she is improving. Mr. and Mrs. W. L. LaBoon recently moved from Pickens to his farm in An , derson county. Miss Bertha Cantrell of near Pickens spent a part of the holidays with school mates in Pickens. Miss Mabel O'Dell of Easley spent the holidays in Pickens with her sister, Mrs. Claud Allgood. Bales of cotton ginned up to Decem ber 13, 1916: 14,106; up to the same date in 1915: 15,691. Miss Floride Carey will leave Thurs day for a month's stay with friends at Snelling and Edgefield. C. B Finley, who moved from Pick ens to Easley in November, was a wel come visitor here Monday. ,Miss Margaret Means of Columbia spent part of the holidays with the fam ily of R. E. Yongue in Pickens. Miss Meda Boggs, music teacher in Spartan academy, is spending the holi days with homefolks in Pickens. Mrs. C. D. Bolt of Easley spent a portion of the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R:A. Hester, near Pickens. Mrs. Milholland and two children and sister, Miss Corrinne' Robertson, of Charlotte, are visiting relatives in Pickens. Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Winchester and the former's sister, Miss Pearl, of near Pickens, are visiting friends and rela tives in Waihalla this week. W. R. (Tucker) Cantrell has gone to Tennessee to purchase some good young mules and horses. He will be glad for those interested to come and see them at his stables in Pickens. Rev. Wade Lewis of Greenville and Colonel Lewis of Anderson have been visiting their mother, Mrs. John T. Lewis, who is very ill at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gillespie, above Pickens. The minutes of the Pickens Baptist association have been printed and are at The Sentinel office for 'distribution to the different churches. The clerks of the different 'churches may get their minute by calling at this office. He join ed the U. S. army about ten years ago and this is his first visit to Pickens since that time. Ho has been out of the army several years following the profession of finisher and decorator. Col. Frank G. Mauldin, U. S. A., a member of the prominent and popular Mauldin family of Pickens, Is speding several weeks with relatives in Pickens and Greenville, and his friends are all glad to see him looking well. Col. Maul din has been stationed for some time at Port McKinley, Maine, but was recent ly transferred to Fort Slocum, New York. One of the most pleasant gatherings of this Christmas time was the reunion and Christmas dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Bowen in Pickens. All the children and grandchildren of this good and lovable couple were pres ent, as follows:. Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Bowen and four children of Central, Mrs. Cora L. Holden and little daughter1 of Calhoun, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Bannis-I ter of Liberty and Miss Florence Bow'en. May all live to enjoy many more re- I unions and-Christmas dinnes. Alex Edens and family moved thi week from Pickens to Easley, wher Mr. Edens will farm. Exactly thirty days after her husband' death Mrs. R. R. Stephenson receivei the insurance he carried with the Wood men of the World. This order will als4 erect a $100 monument to the grave o: the departed sovereign. The W. 0. W is a good order. A. J. Boggs, who retired January I as clerk of court of Pickens county, hai opened a private business office in thi court house, next door to the treasurer'i office, where he will conduct a genera real estate and conveyancing business, making a specialty of abstracting title and negotiating loans on real estate. He will be glad to have his friends cal: and see him at his new office. Mr. Boggs served this county as clerk foi sixteen years, which is four years longei than any other officer ever held the place, and wis considered the best lerli in the state.
