We notice by the Sylvan Valley News that a half a million dollar tannery and belt factory will be built at Brevard in the near future. Twelve Mile school will begin the winter session Monday, November 27, with Miss Clara Hughes of Switzer, S. C., as teacher. The Methodist missionary society will holA its regular monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. Gary liott next 14riday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Miss Bessie Robertson entertained the junior embroidery club last Saturday afternoon. During the social hour a sweet coarse, followed by salted nuts, was served. Cassell, one of our old Confed erate veterans who lives in the upper part of the county, was at the county seat on business Monday and paid The Sentinel office a pleasant visit. The Christmas Gift suggestions and how to make them should prove of special interest to our lady readers. Some of them appear in the paper today and others will appear between now and Christmas. Clerk of Court Boggs requests us to ask all who have papers in his office to come in and get same before January 1, 1916, as he wants all papers in the own ers' hands when he turns the office over to his successor. A delightful meetingof the W.C.T.U. was held'at the home of Mrs. C. E. Robinson last Thursday afternoon. Rev. J. C. Bailey conducted the devotional exercises, which were much enjoyed. The hostess served refreshments. The ladies of the Methodist church will have a bazaar and serve dinner on Friday, the 8th of December, in the vacant storeroom next to B. F. Parsons' store. They will have articles suitable for Christmas presents and a variety of refreshments, all of which they will sell reasonably. The churchets of Pickens can boast of having the best pastors of any town its size in the state. Our people do riot appreciate them as highly as they ought. The sermons of Rev. J. C. Bailey dur ing the protracted meeting last week at the Presbyterian church were among the best we have ever heard. Prof. W. H. Hand, state High School inspector, will make an educational ad dress at the Pickens school auditorium, Thursdiay evening, 23rd. at 7:30. Prof. Hand is an interesting speaker and a treat is in store for all who hear him. He will discuss the needs and condition of our school. Everybody invited. Last Thursday I had the pleasure of hearing Sov. W. A. Fraser, the hi ghest official in the order of the W.O0. W.,o of Omaha, Neb. He spoke to a great throng of people from the steps of the court house at Spartanburg. Th is order is doing a great work and should be encouraged by our people. -D. W. H. T. T. Hughes of near Greenville was in Pickens on business Monday. Mr. ~Hughes is a native of Pickens county and moved from the Peters Creek sec tion to Greenville county about thirteeri years ago. He now owns a fine farm near the city of Greenville and is one of the prosperous farmers of that county, making his own feedstuff and raising cotton as a surplus crop. Wyatt Jennings, who has been ir Raleigh, N. C., for the past year oi two, is on an extended visit to his pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Jennings, ir Pickens. H. Craig of Pickens were the principal winners at the recent poultry show at Greenville, winning the following places: 1st and 4th places on cocks; 1st, 4th and 5th on cockerels; 3rd on hen, 3rd and 5th on pullets and second on pen.
