A crowded house attended the school closing entertainment at Roanoke last Friday evening and the excercises were enjoyed to the fullest. The program was well carried out and the entertain ment was a success in every respect. The home of Horace J. McGee, in Anderson, was destroyed by fire last week. Mr. McGee was formerly cash ier of one of the Central banks and is well known in Pickens county. He is now district agent for the Southeastern Life Insurance Co. The Keowee chapter, U. ). C., of Lib erty held memorial excercises at the school auditorium on the afternoon of May 10. The address was made by Lloyd Smith of Easley, after which all went to the cemetery to decorate the graves of Confederate veterans. Big Creek church, near Williamston in Anderson county, will have home coming and memorial day on the first I Sunday, and Saturday before, in June. Many people in Pickens county are ex pected to attend. Big. Creek is the :hurch of their forefathers. C. W. Hunter, who lives in the Pea Ridge section, is able to be up after a severe attack of pneumonia.
