Mrs. Matilda Looper
Mrs. Matilda Looper died at th
home of. her son, Joseph L. Looper o
Cross Roads, -on the 7th instant, in th
77th year-of her life. Her funeral wit
held by her pastor, Rev. D. W. Hiott
assisted by Rev.. Marion Looper, a
Cross Roads church, in the presence o:
a vast multitude of sorrowing friends
and relatives.
Her husband, Thomas P. Looper,
died a little more than 23 years ago.
Mrs. Looper was before her marriage
Miss -Matilda Hendricks, a' daughter of
Esquire Larkin Hendricks. She has ar
only brother, David Hendricks, who is
now .81 years old.
Mrs, Looper leaves five sons and twc
daughters, as follows: A. J., Joe L.,
Bird, Mrs. Tom Turner and Mrs. Robert
Hendricks, all of Cross Roads com
munity; Will T. and Henry of Green
ville.
Mrs. Looper had been a member of
Cross Roads church for about 56 years
and had lived a consistent Christian
life. Besides her children she leaves
many grandchildren and other relatives
to weep for her. "Aunt Tilda" was
much loved by the people. She loved
her church and was faithful to the last.
Blessed are the dead who die in the
Lord. She will rest from her labors
and her works will follow her. H.
Mr. William Keith Dead
William Keith died Friday afternoon
at the home of his daughter, Mrs.A.W.
Folger, in Easley. Mr. Keith was a
native of Pickenj county, but for many
years resided in Greenville. He was a
Confederate veteran and served in the
First South Carolina Volunteers, Hamp
ton Legion. Mr. Keith first married
Miss Edna C. Gossett and the following
are the children of this union: Mrs.
A. W. Folger, R. A. Keith, Mrs. W. Z.
Davis and Mrs C. E. Bull. He was
married a second time to Mrs. Emily C.
Payne. S. J. Keith, B. C. Keith anc
Mrs. W. H. Conley are the children of
this union. Mr. Keith was a member
of St. Paul's Methodist church o1
Greenville.

There will be a box supper and en
tertainment at Ambler school house
Saturday evening, December 18, be
ginning at 6.30 o'clock, and everybody
is invited to come. Mrs. A. A. Jone:
