SEPT, 1899 SEPT. 1915
We have just passed the 16th annual mile-post in :
business in Pickens. We think that the years of exper
ienlce has been worth as much to our trade as it has been
to ourselves. We have been able to learn more about
merchandise. We have been able to locate better lines
of goods that we can sell the trade-goods that fit better
and wear longer thereby; giving them better goods for ":
the money, and at the same time giving us an opportun- -
ity to sell the same customer the same kind of goods again.
This fall'finds us with the largest and best line of
up-to-date merchandise it has ever been our privilege to
own. We have our dry goods side filled with new, well
selected goods and the price is as reasonable as can be
expected, quality considered. All sizes in corsets of the
American Beauty line. Coat suits just in and all new
styles, don't fail to see them. A new line of ladies', miss
es, and children's coats. Call and inspect them and let
us quote you prices.
-" Blankets and comforts: Blankets $1.00 to $6.00 per
* pair. Comforts $1.00 to $2.50 each. Window shades 25
" to 50c. Curtain poles 10 and 15c each. Feather pillows
75c to $1.00 each. A good line of trunks and bags always .
on hand.
4: Men's suits $10.00 to $17.50. Boys' suits $2.50 to $6.
Our line of Lyon shirts and collars is (complete. If
you'h1ave never worn one of these shirts let us sell you
onie ami prove to you that they are in every way what
we claim them to be. A big stock of one of the best line --
)f Overalls ever shown in Pickens. Work shirts that
" are full gut and put together to stay. -
Men's and boys' Hats and Caps. This is one of i(our
" hobbies. We have a .great line and those who have
* bought of us know it. Let us sell you one and convince
you. Southern-made neckties that surpass anything in
"q(uality and style that we have ever bought. -
When you enter our store cast your eye on our Shoe
" shelves and see how clean and fresh the boxes appear.
We buy the kind that sell and please, th'-refore we do
not have to keep old shelf-worn stock. The strongest
line of medium-priced all leather shoes for women,Imisses
children and boys' to be found anywhere.
Come to see us.

I think that this will be my last

I was asked the other day by

they called it Pickens.

An Important Invention
What we believe to be one of
the greatest as well as the sim
plest inventions and one that
means the saving of millions of
dollars to the farmers of the
South, is an improvement on
plow points invented by Mr.S.M.
Johnston, a well-known and
successful planter of near Lib
erty.
The plow points now on the
market are the same thickness
all over except the bevel edge
point. After a little use the
points wear off and in order to
get another point the blacksmith
cuts off a good part of the plow
and beats it down to get another
point. The right side of the
point does not wear on the plow
point now on the marget. Mr.
Johnston's plow point is thin on
the right side, the left side being
three times as thick. This al
lows the point to wear fully three
tims as long as the common
point, and when it does need
sharpening there is plenty of
material to "'beat it down" with
out cutting off any of the point.
