This fall'finds us with the largest and best line of up-to-date merchandise it has ever been our privilege to own. We have our dry goods side filled with new, well selected goods and the price is as reasonable as can be expected, quality considered. All sizes in corsets of the American Beauty line. I think that this will be my last change before I reach Pickens, S. C., "God's country." I was asked the other day by a Butte man where Pickens got its name. I told him that it was the best pickings of South Caro lina for a city, and therefore they called it Pickens. Sincerely, W. E. FIELo. An Important Invention What we believe to be one of the greatest as well as the sim plest inventions and one that means the saving of millions of dollars to the farmers of the South, is an improvement on plow points invented by Mr.S.M. Johnston, a well-known and successful planter of near Lib erty. The plow points now on the market are the same thickness all over except the bevel edge point. After a little use the points wear off and in order to get another point the blacksmith cuts off a good part of the plow and beats it down to get another point. The right side of the point does not wear on the plow point now on the marget. Mr. Johnston's plow point is thin on the right side, the left side being three times as thick. This al lows the point to wear fully three tims as long as the common point, and when it does need sharpening there is plenty of material to "'beat it down" with out cutting off any of the point. --Anderson Tribune.
