Arnold well-known citi zen of route 4, was in town on business one day last week. Mrs. V. C. Moore of Monroe, N. C. has been spending several (lays in Pickens with Mrs. I. M. Mauldin. Dr. and Mrs. W. A. Woodruff of Cateechee spent Sunday with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. T, Griffin. Mr. David Hendricks, an old and honored citizen of the Dacus ville section, was a visitor at the county seat Saturday. Messrs. Joe L. Baker, a prominent merchant of Norris, was in Pick lens on business one day last week. Old soldiers' decoration day will be hold at Cross Roads church this year May 6. All old soldiers are cordially invited. Clement Kelly, the young man who was recently shot at Central, isathomeagain, having left the Anderson hospital last week. Dr. Ramsay will not preach in Pickens the fourth Sunday, but will fill his pulpit here the first Sunday in May, morning and evening. The Ladies' Cottage prayer meeting will meet Friday even ing at 4 o'clock with Mrs. J. L. 0. Thompson. Alltheladiesof Pick ens are cordially invi'.ed to be present. Pickens county singing con vention will bo held with the Cross Roads Baptist church Saturday and Sunday, May 15 and1 16. A gre(at time is expected. Nealy was re-elected chief of police, W. F. Mauldin w'as re-elected city clerk and R. L. IHames was elected mayvor pro-temn. FUpon the recommendation of Sen ator 0' Dell and Sheriff Roark iJ. T. McKinnrev of Easley has been appointed by Governor Manning as rural policeman of Pickens county and wvill accept the position. Mr. McKinney is a native of this county and has considerable experience as an of ficer of the law. For the past several years he has been chief of yd'ice at Easley. In th- city election held at Easley Monday J. Milton King was elected mayor over W. L. Pickens by a vote of 229 to 87. B. C. Johnson withdrew from the race last week. P. M.
