Gilstrap of near Central is confined to her room, being very sick with pneumonia. Her friends wish for her a speedy recovery. A Child Drowned Near Central Grace, the two and a half year 4 old child of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Roper of near Central, was drowned in a tub of water last ] Wednesday at 5 o'clock. This 9tC is part of the general plan of the ft Allied .generals. When one is attack- a ed the other attacks to compel the w Germans and Austrians to keep strong i forces at every point and endeavor to prevent them from sending new troops c where they could do the most good. The Germans now are attempting to E crush the Russians. For this purpose they are reported to have an army I estimated at nearly a halt million men PI marching along the roads toward T Przasnysz. To prevent this army 44 from being strengthened further the t. British are thrusting at the German fq line north of La Bassee and besides re- di porting the capture of the village of Neuve Chappells it is asserted that s they have advanced beyond that town. The battle taking place -in the East, experts say, is the biggest pitched bat- n tIe of the war, no less than a million ei men being engaged. The Germans in y their official report claim an advance, while Petrograd considers It likely d that the Russians will have to fall tj back beyond Przasnyz as they did last a month, before making a stand. It probably will be days before a definite result is attained in this battle. Meanwhile another German army L has appeared on the Pilica River i front, south of the Vistula, probably, military observers say, with the idea of inducing Grand Duke Nicholas to withdraw men from the North, where the real blow is bqing struck. Farther south, along the foothills of ' the Carpathians, fighting between the E Austrians and Russians continues in l( wintry weather.
