Mr. J. H. Reid, of Erath coun
ty, Texas, is in Pickens county
visiting friends and relatives.
He is a native of this county
and moved from here to Texas
about 23 years ago and has pros
pered in his adopted home. Mr.
Reid is a brother of Mrs. Sallie
Sutherland. of Pickens, and his
son, Ernest, married a daughter
of Mr. Bennett Jones of this
county. T h ey also live in
Texas. This is Mr. Reid's first
visit here in three years, and he
will remain in this section some
time and may decide to make
his home here.I
Mrs. Jennie Lewis Freeman,
wife of Dr. L. E. M . Freeman,
died at their home in Raliegh,
N. C., on June, 23. Besides hex
husband she leaves a baby boy.

Duckworth Reunion
On Sunday last Mr. H. Dean
Singleton and family and Mr.
Dan Mauldin and family, both
sons-in-law of Mrs. B. W.Duck
worth of Easley. came to the
homey of Mrs. Duckworth and
brought dinnerc'nough forall the
family. All the children and
grandchildren were present.
This dinner was given in honor
of the 63d birthday of Mrs.Duck
worth. After attending Sunday
school in the Baptist church
Sunday morning the rest of the
day was spent in family conver
'sation suited for the Sabbath
day. May Mrs. Duckworth live'
to celebrate many more birth
days with her dear ones.

Jim Alexander was hit in the
head by "Spider" William's at
Easley, Saturday night, July
4, and as a result Jim has been
unconscious ever since, and
"Spider," and another negro
negro named Westfield and
Pheobe Furgerson are in the
county jail. All concerned are
coloifed. Corn whiskey and a
woman was the cause. Since
the above was written Alex
